It's only about 16 1/2" high to the top of the knob on the lid.

"Possum crate" conjures a mental image of a neat prop- a box that can start shaking, rattling, hissing, and growling when needed (probably on remote control) giving the illusion that there's something inside that should definately not be let out. I bet a creative magician could come up with a use for a prop like that, maybe as a running gag throughout the show. Hmm, I'm getting a few ideas myself...
