Dear all,

Recently I have been totally engrossed with gaff coins, one of my favorite is the CSB gaff. I have created a few of my own routines with inputs from some of my magic buddies locally using the gaff.

I would like to post here on the Café to request for advise from the senior coin magicians, with regards to the originality of my routines, as to whether the gaff have been used in such applications.

As I am relatively new to the gaff coins circle, I would also like to know who I should credit proper for the plots or maybe certain applications/sleights.

I have intention to put these routines into print or DVD one day and also possibly include them in my Lecture tours.

Below are links to 2 of my routines using the CSB Gaff. Enjoy!

Nice job Jeremy. CSB has been discussed a lot on the Café, a search might give you an idea on where to find routines/ideas/moves with these sets.

Your moves are beautiful, but you know that. In response to your query I would want to know how your lead into these effects and segue into your next routines in a live show. You now have a gaff in your hands at the end of this routine -- how do you use that to advantage. Any gaff can be an asset or a liability. So, I love the innovation of what you are doing. Now, is it practical?

Keep innovation and playing with coins and gaffs. I am jealous because my hands don't work right anymore, but can suggest that you think of how a lay audience will perceive these effects -- not just other magicians.

I'd love to see what you do with non-gaffed objects.

I really like the in hands routine!!!

Did you ever consider using a dollar size copper/silver/brass set?

Have a nice day,

Dear all,

Thank you very much for your kind compliments.

Supra, I too have not seen extensive use of a CSB gaff for routines other then the standard transposition effect. My buddy Nique Tan, from Singapore, have a routine where 3 silver coins transform into the CSB set. I took the concept and changed it to a multi phase transformation routine. I have another table application for the CSB gaff like the one in my International Matrix. I might get it filmed and upload it to youtube soon.

With regards to the practicality of the routines, I perform the CSB interchange routine regularly for my walk around gigs. I have 2 variations for that routine, one stand up version (in the video) and a palm up version for surrounded situations.

To end the CSB Interchange routine, I use the Tamriz Crossing the Gaze switch concept to ditch the gaff and usually end with taking a lighter to vanish the last coin. I also have another variation of using a purse frame, and the last coin would be ditched as the purse frame is removed.

Bernard, thanks for the support! I am in the midst of compiling the effects slowly and doing research before coming up with the DVD. Will let you know once the project is on its way.

Bob, In the video I showed 2 versions, 1 in a half dollar size then followed by a dollar size version with a slight variation. I am running low on the Redefine Rings set, glad to hear that you are enjoying it. Cheers!

Hi David,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I know for sure that there are many of such plots ever being invented before using CSB or 2C1S gaffs.

For my International Matrix,my friend and I came up with all the sequence independently and am not exactly sure if this exact sequence have been done before. Also would like to know who to proper credit for such routines before I put it into print/DVD.

Maybe you can advise me further Smile Cheers!

Wow! I have to say... my CSB doesn’t quite look anything like that!

Jeremy, that is excellent IMO. When I first saw your post and video link I thought it was like many such requests - to view a "practice" video for comment. That's no practice video - that was very professional. I really like your handling; I have not seen a handling like that for CSB. Very nice! I hope to see more of your work.

Thank you for sharing that.

It is very cool looking magic.

However, my favorite CSB routines are the ones that involve the spectators. You simply cannot beat magic that allows you to interact with the spectators AND also has magic that happens right in their hands!

Check out CSB routines by Doc Eason, John Bannon, or Bob Sheets.
