Just placed an order for the Coin Balloonacy DVD (which I had been meaning to do for a while). Looking forward to learning both the Silk in Balloon and the Coin in Balloon!

As for my experience, the best silk in ballon version is UGM model.

When I used to do this act, I used Pavels handling, it's in one of his Silks DVD. Very simple and easy to do. Although it was so simple I did manage to miss the popping of the balloon one time, if you know the effect you know what I mean, it ruin the whole act. The popping of the balloon is the climax of the act. Live and learn, the hard way.

I have used a silk pistol for years to vanish the silk. I used an old Loring Campbell idea of "shooting through a Boy". I would get a child up from the audience, stand my assistant on the backside of the spectator and "shoot" the silk into the balloon or crystal casket.
I would use a Joseph silk pistol. Those of you familiar with it know that sometimes there is a little tail of silk sticking up when you vanish it on occasions. I covered this simply by twisting my wrist slightly after shooting so the open part was upstage away from the audience. The only problem now days is you just cannot do hardly any tricks with guns. But it was a very strong illusion illusionette. Richard

So, the silk never leaves the chamber?
I need the silk to actually shoot out of the gun. I can also just toss the silk at the balloon. I saw mickey Hades had one.

Hmmmm. I just received the Coin Balloon-acy DVD today and viewed part of it (the coin in balloon and silk in balloon). I really like what I have seen so far, Magic Ian.
In any case, I was trying to think about the options to vanishing the silk. Richard brought up Silk to Ball (as far as comparing the takeup spindle). I'm wondering now about combining the Silk to Ball with Silk in Balloon. Hmmm. I also like Bob's suggestion of combining Silk to Egg with Silk in Balloon.

Jimmy,
I often vanish a silk (up to 24") in an egg anyway without ever showing the egg. I usually use a brown egg for that because it won't flash. Pros need outs! I'd rather be caught with an egg than any other gimmick I can thing of. (I hope we get Ian back to ranch for Magic Valley Magic this October. He makes a great guest.) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Ian, thank you for the reminder. I'm not in a rush. Just "scheming", as Bob sometimes says.
I am just beginning to digest what is on the DVD. And I am looking forward to your additional handlings. Jimmy

Rooco seems to have a silk to balloon method where the silk visibly flies into the balloon......

Wow! It has been ages since this thread was read. I also miss my ole buddy Ian. What a creative guy!
Good stands for Silk in Balloon are probably more easily made than found. Even a small (Upside down) desert bowl is a good place to start. (Make sure it is also heavy.) Jimmy Joza is right! SCHEME! |
