For pulls or smoke tubes when attaching the saftey pins they can make awkard looking wrinkles on the shirt. A way around that is over shirts yet that is not always appropriate so another things would be to use straps on the body to hook up onto. Where could I find such straps long enough for my torso and not just arms? A waist belt could work but I cant really insert saftey pins into tough plastic or leather.

You can buy nylon webbing in various widths at a fabric store, and some self-adhesive velcro strips at a hardware store. Put 'em together and voilla!--you've got a custom-fitted body strap.
