I guess Canada will celebrate its Bronze medal.

We'd be dancing in the streets but with a First in Envy, we're jealous of Canada's bronze.
I can't believe those Sth Koreans beat us on Lust - we'll have to try harder next year. Sloth was the least of our vices - I suppose to win a better ranking on that we'd better not put in any effort at all. |

Would that explain why the Australian government's trying to filter out all sorts of stuff from the internet?
I'd like to see the overall ranking by sin. I see the US wins gluttony. I don't see how we can't be first place for greed and pride, as well.

You must be so proud (PRIDE). I'm so ENVIOUS of Australia. It makes me want to go on a rampage (WRATH). I go over there and do something about it if I was able to get off this couch (SLOTH) and stop watching pornos (LUST) while eating Cheetos (GLUTTONY). If I only had enough money to get there... and there's never enough money (GREED)
Congratulations!!! Greg

I'm not sure what has been reported about censorship over there. Australia would be one of the least censored places in the world. Adults can basically look at and read what they like beyond what I think to be sensible restrictions against anything involving children, animals and coercive sex or extreme violence. It is also not permissable to explain to people how to build a nuclear bomb or kill a doctor.
I suspect the idea we are heavily censored comes from our Governments well meaning but ill conceived attempt to provide a national net filter which would screen out anything deemed not suitable for children. Their intent is that people who wish to protect their children from what is deemed offensive or adult content could sign up voluntarily. It would be a good idea if it worked but I doubt it can be achieved. So I will focus on what can be achieved and do my best to lift Australia's ranking in regard to Sloth - where'd I put that coffee? Oh - there it is, behind the piles of porn DVDs. |
