I am creating a Childrens road safety magic show to go around our local schools and malls.
I have seen quite a few children's "safety" shows in general (both good and bad), but I would like to specific mine to Road safety, as it is quite a big problem where I live. I already have a few idea's that I will use, but it would be great if anyone has any suggestions. Some idea's I already have: 1. Appearing traffic sign (ala appearing pole) 2. Die box (walking across a road - look right, left etc..) 3. Color changing road signs (like blushing bunnies) 4. Strat o' Sphere (traffic lights) Some fun non-magic stuff: a. Riding my unicycle and talking about bike safety, ie; Helmets, lights etc.. b. Juggling small traffic signs. I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions on "Road safety" magic. |

Malini,
You might try the Chinese Compass (where the arrow changes directions) as a road sign. It would stress the need to exercise caution because you never know from which direction the traffic is coming. cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

They could represent a small person, and Adult, and an Older Person, Crossing the street together helping each other. Or three very important points. You may also get some great ideas from, Safety Magic for Children by Karl Wagner.

I agree with Dennis. Get the Wagner book if you can. It will help you integrate your message with the tricks.
I also agree with Dennis regarding PN. It's a great routine.

Malini,
If you have, or have access to, the June 2000 edition of Magic Magazine, David Kaye has a nice routine for Pavel's Blow Knot tube. He uses red, green, and yellow silks to represent the traffic lights, and it is full of humorous bits. I have used this in my show to great success. As David said "The original routine...has a beginning and an end. The middle that has been created is the 'ride to the destination,' and it is one that is full of fun and laughs." Scott
