Just wanted to thank Louis for doing a wonderful job at the first ever Kapital Kidvention.
Considering it was the first time he had organized a convention, I think he did an outstanding job. Nice to finally meet a few people that I have got to know from this place. Best, James |

It's a pleasure to echo James' compliments. Louis and his staff did a fantastic job. This conference has merely scratched the surface of its potential, so it will be exciting to watch and support its growth!
Sorry I missed your lecture, James, but I generally avoid PACKED, Standing-in-the- hall rooms!! Well done! It was a pleasure meeting and laughing with you!

Outstanding convention. My only disappointment was when the last show was over there was a let down. I suggest they end it next year with a party complete with a live band and champagne. It was great meeting all of you.

Thanks everyone for your comments! I enjoyed meeting all of you and I look forward to making next year's Kapital Kidvention even better. The interest in James' workshop was overwhelming, the room was packed, people where even sitting in the hall to hear it!
Ken, there where a couple of things that will be changed about next year's final show. Overall it got very high marks but I think the stage was too low. That is an easy fix for next year. Louis Meyer http://www.KapitalKidvention.com |

As a part-time pro with a fulltime non-magic job, I was only able to attend one day, but that day was crammed with great lectures. I got there at 10 a.m. for the Barry Mitchell lecture and left after 10 p.m. after the Arthur Stead lecture. Good lecturers, good performances at the closing show and good dealers. My only regret was that I didn't see James' lecture because it was on a day I wasn't there.
Louis, you should be proud. And you're lucky, the snow didn't arrive until after midnight Saturday morning. Larry Lipman Lorenzo the Great! ps: to James--great seeing you again and meeting Jolly Roger. |

James,
Thanks for starting this thread! I usually don't do multi-day conventions, but this one was a blast! Also, it was great that it was during the week. So often, full time performers have to decide between turning down paying work and going to a convention because they are mostly held on the weekends. Brilliant! Also, the convention was very well run. Better than some that have been around for years! There was always something to do, maybe a little more free time would have been nice. I found it a challenge to find time for the dealer's room! It was terrific to meet some of the people I only know by name or from the Café. Can't wait for next year's convention! My only problem with the weekend was that some guy who performs under the name, "James Wand" got my photo bumped off the list in the Washington Post for my show at the National Theater on Saturday morning. Anyone know who this guy is? Sincerely, David

David,
Sorry about that. James Wand has friends in high places, if you know what I mean... Hope you had a good show. Sorry I didn't get to see it. Did you have many no-shows because of the weather? I was sold out both shows, but about 10% of them didn't show up. I'm so glad I'm not there this weekend! Best, James Posted: Feb 8, 2010 12:20am Futureal, Brad who? James |

James,
Did I hear you correctly in saying the Great Zuccini was susposed to be there? Too bad, I would have liked to meet him.

I believe Brad Ross went over as well as Julian Franklin, and both have been...I believe you say...cordially un-invited back?
Hot air and paper tigers do not a fun convention make. I believe Roger Blakiston and James were among the top three highlights? Would have liked to have been there...busy working though. |

I can't imagine Julian or Brad giving a less than sterling presentation. The feedback I heard from both was strong - of course, you can't please everyone.
I also can't speak for Louis, but, I understand that one of his goals is to keep the lectures fresh and inviting by bringing in new lecturers each year. So, the fact that one or two of this year's lecturers may not be coming back next year should not be viewed as a negative. They are simply being rotated to maintain a high level of interest and education for the attendees. I hope it serves as a valuable lesson to other conferences.

I was not at the Kapital Kidvention this time. However, I was at another event back in November that both Brad and Julian spoke at (along with others), and they did a great job. Louis was there, too.

Hi James!
Yes, I understand! An international Man of Mystery gets his photo in the Post when he wants it there!! Glad you did well at your show, too, with the snow. The box office said they were sold out for both and turned away 50-60 people per show that Saturday. I'm not sure when your showtimes were, but mine were pretty early. The first one was before the snow started and the second one was before the roads were too bad. The drive back to the hotel was interesting! D.C. is the only place I've seen people try to drive their sports cars in 3 inches of snow!! We are so lucky the convention was LAST WEEK! I can't believe the snow they got down there this past weekend. Sincerely, David
