Is the Blackpool Event fun ?? I have heard long lines and not so well organized ? I have been to Abbots, Kramiens many times, PCAM cruise 2008 and enjoyed them all . I have been to England many times and it has less appeal in Feb. I guess
I can ask the Brits At Innovention 2010. Go or not ?? |

Hi Brian,
This year I went for the first time. Heard a lot of it and didn't know what really to expect. In my opinion it is fabolous. The lectures, the people you meet, the chance to talk to the stars and learn direct from them. We are with a couple magicians from Holland and we will be going every year from now on. One tip: the dealers room is overwelming (but great). Take your time to eat and drink and let blackpool come in and enjoy! I feel you won't regret it. I've learned in three days more then in one year with my magic club. |

We have been going for 13 consecutive years. Would not miss it for the world. The best organized convention there is. If you need specific suggestions on other things, feel free to email me at craig@wizardcraft.com. I would be happy to share those years and suggestions. Two brief things, fly to Manchester, and take the train. Train is right in Manchester Airport. A rountrip Car Service runs about 90 pounds if made in advance. Train far less, and convienient. The convention headquarters is the Ruskin and sold out a year in advance, but plenty of others neaby and within walking distance to Winter Gardens. Blackpool is one of those things you have to do once in your life if you love magic.

Thanks Craig - I think I will email you and get your number as I plan on going for 10 days just to visit London and other areas in the UK. I have a room at the Ruskin already as that was the place I was told to stay at. Yes I agree that Blackpool is one of the things to do if you love magic hence my trip! I have been to a national convention for the last 6 years and have met you several times! I look forward to across the pond fun! I am worn out on the American conventions so I want to see how the brits do it.
Thank You, Brian |

Good deal Brian, you will love it. I had told a friend who is in TV, he had to do this once. So last year he came, he was like a little kid wandering around, like it was his first convention, just in awe. That was during the Digital TV rollout, so ratings sweeps week was put off. This year he could not make it because of that and it killed him. He loved it, and can't wait to get back. Plus 2011 is the FISM European Championships being hosted by the Blackpool Magicians, so it will be an extra special event, all begins 9AM Friday so get in on Thursday. And now here is the best part (OK I am a New Yorker, sarcasim is inherent) I will be lecturing there as well. OK well the rest will be great anyway EMail and I will give you a few details. Lucky you got into the Ruskin. Almost impossible, nice folks there.
Trains from London are great, usually Virgin as far as Preston, beautiful trains, I have a funny story Ill tell you in email, but since its off season, you probably have to change for local one there but its a short hop from Preston. That is if you are flying into London first. Many go after.

We are not sure if we want to go to London before or after the convention but we will come for 10 days. We will visit a few cities while in the UK. I think we might show up right for the convention and then take a few days to pal around.

Lots to do, even in Scotland. Edinburgh is beautiful. Trains go everywhere.
