Smartini said: I hope that the WWM is something that works for you I just think it looks bland. My loss I suppose.
I was wondering if you could give us a definition of BLAND there Jeff? Is this what you're talking about? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pj7CsypMxgU I wasn't sure if the trick or the clothes of the performer were vying for the "BLAND" entertainment of the Year award. Or is this what you're talking about? http://www.thegreatsmartini.com/ It's one thing to freely take a poke at other hard working people's effects, and it helps sometimes to take a little look in the mirror.

They don't know who he is but to a man - and a woman - they found the picture very funny and attractive - it made them want to see his act. That's the reaction we all strive to gain from our publicity shots. Isn't it? As for this silly washing machine discussion, if you like it, buy it. And if you don't, don't. The few available will sell. As ever, over the years some will be used constantly and others will sit in the cupboard, not having come up to the magician's expectations. That goes for every prop that's ever been made. It has little to do with the prop itself but with the performer. Most magicians are clever people but mostly lousy performers and entertainers. They always have been. These days you only have to look on You Tube to see how truly awful entertainers many of them really are. You don't have to be a clever magician to be a good entertaining performer. It is not - and never ever has been - props which make people into good entertainers. It is good entertainers who use their skills to make certain props work effectively. Don't be deceived into believing that because one person uses a prop to devastating effect that you will be able to do the same, simply through owning that prop. Success is not easily bought.

Tony,
All in all, very well said; I too find the photo great. It shows a lot of personality, and is funny. It also seems to embarrass Kimmo, so it can't be bad! *G* Jeff's attitude has been amplified quite a bit as of late, and I imagine he is going through some problems we do not know about. Jeff, while I like Wolf's graphics better, and I too think they are more up-to-date, you are going way, way, way to far. This is obvious a well crafted prop, too many people I respect say so. Is the material to the same standards as Wolf's? No, but Wolf's is often overkill in quality - and MUCH more expensive. If your intent is to push Wolf's products, it is not working. Perhaps the opposite. I never looked at your site, until now. Ouch, ouch, ouch! You spend a ton with Chance, for the price of one of his average props your site could be 1000% better. I am still amazed it is your site. I know you are a pro, and I know you want to look good, why is your site so... amateur? |

This is from practical magic's website:
SOLD OUT! We had 25 of these machines and they have sold out in double quick time. We are trying to persuade John Breeds (the originator) to make a few more, but they are extremely time-consuming. If you are seriously interested in having one of these, please email us and we'll put you on a waiting list. Thank you! I know John wasn't too keen on making anymore - but I'm not quoting him and maybe Jeremy (from practical magic) might be able to charm him into making some more! If he doesn't - well the 25 of us that got one have got a real treasure. At present I've only performed this once - and the audience thought the machine was hilarious. Every one burst into laughter the second I brought it out. So the comment that it had "lame clip art" was seriously misguided. If he doesn't make any more remember instructions on how to make it yourself are in his book. Mark |

This thread is a little old but I have to say I have been using John's Wacky Washer now for about 6 months and I am amazed at how will this goes over. It is the best investment I have purchased in a long time. It is well worth the money and I can't give this item enough praise. If you perform for kids at all this is a must have. It works for ages 3-10 very well.

OMG - I can't believe I posted that over 4 years ago - and I said that I had only performed it once! Well, I have now performed it - at a guess - well over a thousand times. It's still my favourite opening trick with the birthday child. I tend to use it for 3-6s and occasionally for 7 year olds.
Thanks again, John! Mark |

It is an amazing routine for audience interaction with young children. I believe it is no longer going to be available as John is retiring his line of products, but I guess that makes it a collector's item! I frequently get requests to perform it at repeat client events by the children themselves.
Thanks for sharing this and your other products with the magic community, John. |

This is the one trick I have that my grandchildren request I do every time they are visiting. It rocks. Even the adults get a kick out of it. I would never part with it. It was the best investment I've made in childrens magic.
