Joseph Gabriel used to do a version of this illusion, except the cage was square with a more deceptive top. He would perform an Asrah, except the floating lady would change into a cockatoo which would circle the audience and fly back to him and then he would transform the cockatoo back into the woman.

Parrot To Girl Cage was created by Tutacko/ Zigmont
There are 2 versions: The round gilded cage as used by Lee Eun Gyeol, Brett Daniels (now owned by Justin Flom), Magic pirates,... Square cage as used by Joseph Gabriel and Rick Thomas Both Cages are build by Bill Smith (magicventures.com) I've worked with one and it is a beautiful illusion and masterly crafted by Bill Smith. |

Rafael is right on the money. This effect was created for the short lived NightMagic show by Rich Tutacko. I also worked on props for this show.

I doubt if it is dangerous for the bird. But you are considering it, ask Bill Smith. He will give you the straight dope.
