Give the originator of the thread the ability to delete posts on that thread.

Use the "Report Post" function.

This would allow the originator to delete any post in the topic he didn't agree with. He would also not read the balance of the thread to insure no one quoted or referenced the post he deleted.
This is why we have a staff. As Tom said, use the "report post" function.
