Hi,
I've been doing magic for several months now and have decided that card stuff is definitely the thing for me. I'm very much an amateur and still have much to learn - hopefully a lot from you guys! I spend my time practicing my pass, being frustrated at how hard a perfect two card pushoff is and being angry at how spectators often feel the ID is superior to Jon Allen's double back - why can't they appreciate it's genius? . I'm 16, have played the piano for 9 years, and have an interest in physics.

Welcome Jamie. Keep practicing. My wife has played the piano since age 5 and now performs with me.

Hi Jamie,
Fellow Brit Ade here, welcome to the party! I'm guessing that having palyed the piano for that long you should have a good advantage dexterity-wise. Yeah, the Pass can be a tricky one, it's one of those sleights with little or no inherent cover. This means that you need to look into studying the presentational aspects (audience management etc.) as well as the fingerwork in order to get it over well. Enjoy your time in the Café! All the best, Ade. |

Welcome. An interest in physics? Good for you! I taught high school physics for about 30 years in the states. I hope both your interest in physics and magic continues for a lifetime. Both take hard work and both are worth the effort.
To paraphrase one of our presidents - we do these things not because they are easy, but because they are difficult (and satisfying and fun). |
