This has been posted on the FX/Music forum as well as I wasn't sure where the best place would be to get a good response.
I'm looking for some ideas for some upbeat classical music for a spoof manipulation routine. Please could you read my full request and send any posts to the forum linked below, so we don't have two threads running: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......rum=11&0 Many thanks in advance, Stu |

Thanks for these ideas so quickly Fabio. I had seen a couple of great tracks by Bond. Wild are new to me and the other 2 pieces have got potential after listening on YouTube.

You might take a tip from animated cartoons that used classical music to comic effect. But in addition to "classical" music, you might consider looking into public domain music that in the past has been used effectively. For instance, the folktune "English Country Gardens" was used to great effect by Allan Sherman for his comedy hit "Here's to the Crabgrass." Strauss's "Also sprach Zarathustra" is a serious classical piece used effectively by Stanley Kubrick for "2001: A Space Odyssee" but which was quickly adapted by comedians and film producers to parody an overblown presentation that only worked because of the 2001 association.
I remember learning when I was in grade school that "Darling Clementine" and "The Marine Corps Hymn" are both written to basically the same tune at different tempos/speeds and possibly you could get some comedy out of that kind of juxtaposition. Pick some popular public domain folk music and play with the tempo. Speaking of Allan Sherman, on one TV special he hosted, Lorne Greene sang his ballad "Ringo" about a gunslinger who befriended a man who eventually became a US Marshall. After Greene's serious rendition of "Ringo," Sherman came out with a hilarious parody to the same tune, but it's theme was "Bingo." Would love to find that on video. You can find the lyrics for the "Bingo" song at http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum/lyrics......ngo.html where not only Bingo is parodied but Ringo Starr's name as well. ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

That's some interesting ideas Amado and not ones I'd immediately thought of. You've given me a whole new load of ideas to investigate now.
Cheers, Stu |
