My wife started watching The Big Bang Theory and loves it. There are science fiction and techy jokes on that show that not everyone gets, in my case I am not into sci-fi at all so those go over my tubby head. In the episode a week ago ago the tall geeky guy was floundering around in one of those things with the plastic balls in play areas and he would pop up and say something like 'bozinga', which was very funny. Does 'bozinga' have an meaning?

What channel is that show on? I try to stick mainly with TLC, Travel, and the Food channel. Maybe I'm the geek because I have no idea if bozinga is a word.

Seems to be his catchphrase. Here's a clip of the scene in question:

I never thought of looking up bazinga.... I'm no longer a phone tech guy, I was fired this morning after my cars engine blew out. Of course I just looked at the termination papers and they were nice enough to call me by three different names and put down inaccurate info as well...I am a number!
Thank you by the way. |

Over the years you have had problems with jobs. I guess that is why you empathize so much with Ed Rhodes.

Yup, spent 23 years one place, went to another that wanted me to file false documentation to an agent who knew the info was false, and now this one which runs a 40 plus percent turn over rate... I was actually good at this one.

Thank you. From a managerial standpoint getting rid of people so off handidly makes no sense. I could see it if there is a pattern of missing work but a blown engine or medical emergency? It is beyond me how that adds value.

That's a tough break, Santa. I hope that you find something soon.

I'm actually calling the union rep tomorrow because of two reasons. One that they can't be as stupid about firing people as they seem and two the fact that the termination paper has inaccurate info that ticks me off. At least get the info right if you are going to fire me.

No. They won't even approach the subject. I said before that they are a useless and weak union. I am really still surprised this happened because I followed all the procedures but they (the company) had this zero tolerance not in the union contract and there is no means of communication or give between the workers and management because of it. Makes no sense since I was one of their top performers but if you look at the companies view one absense in the first 12 months is considered a firing offense. The manager I spoke to today, who is my friend, told me that they have fired 40 percent of those hired, one was a woman who had a medical emergency and had surgery, she was fired for not scheduling the emergency in advance.
My cars engine is blown and it will cost 4 grand to replace the engine....yet I'm still a happy go lucky guy! |

I suppose the explanation from a business point of view is that short term profits are the only thing that counts in crippled economies. Business aren't in it for the long term; they are just trying to survive. And survival sometimes means a decimal point on the stock exchange. Pure, 100% free market capitalism doesn't work in a global economy. At least not when competing with a country who considers workers mere cogs in the machine. What I can't figure out is how a regime based upon a dictatorship of the proletariat can simultaneously place so little value upon "workers". Go figure. Only 16 days to go. Then my posts will (might) make more sense. |

Not sure what the big bang theory has to do with science fiction.

Let me help, note the statement I made:
here are science fiction and techy jokes on that show that not everyone gets The characters on the show are into science fiction and computers as hobbies and make jokes with those subjects as the base. The other day the punch line to a joke was a reference to firmware, a term not everyone knows (they should have gotten more obscure and said GUI). Since I had never heard 'bizanga' before and my wife wanted to know what it meant I asked the folks here, many of which are into sci fi. Hopefully that clears up any issues. |
