Can anyone offer some advice on whether you can travel legally with some of the increasingly common electronics magicians and mentalists use. I'm thinking of various effects, for example card f______ns, that may employ remotes of one sort or another and will appear strange to laymen. Other effects use signaling devices of a kinetic or other nature. I've had to explain thumb tips to TSA inspectors overseas but that's relatively fast and easy -- just demonstrate an effect. But for my torn and restored newspaper, I make them up before flying because, as most of you will know, preparing them for one of the most popular methods involves a flammable substance that you are not permitted to carry. I have some performing to do overseas in the next couple months and do not want to risk having valuable apparatus confiscated. Appreciate any advice or experience readers can offer on this. Many thanks.

This subject was discussed at some length several months ago (in fact I do so reguarly a couple of times a year -- only domestically, not outside the US -- and posted my experience on that thread). A search of the achives will probably turn it up.
