Second, we are part of the evolution of the planet. This is absolutely true. What conclusion are you hoping to draw from this? It seems to me that because we have the capacity to foresee the likely consequences of our actions, we have moral responsibility for our actions. This is what morally separates humans from, say, spiders. If human activity contributes to long-term climate changes in our planet, and we see that it is so, then we have moral obligations. What exactly those obligations are is worth some serious consideration, IMO. John

No No No! The earth is getting warmer and it all due to mankind and in particular industry in the US! The US puts out more pollution than ANY other country (does not include countries in the third world, Europe, Asia, Latin America, or any country starting with a constinant which doesn't fall into any of the listed catagories) and the US produces no food or anything else and just takes and takes and takes. Right now glaciers and ice is melting and it is going to flood the coastal regions of the world and the US will likely build levees which will keep the water out long enough to let minorities move behind then at which time the US will knock them down so that the people will lose their houses and stuff and have to move to Houston which will be like 156 degrees every day and it will ALL be because of the US and no one else you earth warming scumbags!

I look into my crystal ball and see taxes going up and people getting more righteous about their hostilities on the topic of "the environment and man's ability to change it" - but somehow missing that the base issue is population rather than technology.
BTW - why aren't more of you fretting that just as we get to a place where we can start to plan and produce means of avoiding large-scale disasters - we get misdirected into turning away from such projects? There's no stopping the giant rocks out there that hit out planet every so often and no amount of "green" thinking will stop the sun from going nova whenever it does. PS The global warming process is brought to you by the same people who were warning us about global cooling thirty years ago and who want to teach evolution in schools.

The wife is...I do admit I've not taken my meds that make me rational for a few days. I'm trying to be a good lib.
Hey, the 70s had a dramatic cooling? I don't recall a 'dramatic' cooling, the coolest thing in the 70s was me (yeah!) when I had on my angel flight pants and those shoes with the three inch soles on 'em, which made sense since I was a foot taller than my girlfriend at the time. Yeah...I was coooool. By the way, some of us in the seventies tried to get rid of the fossel fuels but the libbies cried and complained and pointed their crooked little fingers and then destroyed the alternative. So if you reallllly want to find someone to blame global warming on then it is the lefties because remember, they are always wrong, always back the wrong horse, and are oblivous to it the angry little muppets that they are. |

But but....if the earth had a decrease in temp then an increase following the decrease shouldn't the decrease be taken into consideration so actually things are balancing out? Oh dear, as a new mega lefty this confuses me so I shall now put up my own linkies to prove my point, which is, uh, a point!
Global Warming will increase zombie attacks! Proof? It was put into writing which is proof enough for us mega libs: http://jimmyakin.typepad.com/defensor_fi......ing.html Global Warming is caused by the....illuminati! http://www.illuminati-news.com/2007/0316a.htm Global Warming is going to bring back dinosaurs! http://www.bandersnatch.com/global.htm Global Warming causes kidney stones! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,383456,00.html Global Warming caused by sex! Here is a fairly comprehensive list of things caused by global warming.
Follow all the links and enjoy. http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/warmlist.htm Still think it is not overstated? I think that is my evidence John. Any wonder why it poses such a problem? Based on ALL this and they want to tax the heck out of us. Yea. Good plan.

John it is NOT a joke. This is a fairly complete list of things caused by global warming claimed in the media.
Why do you say it is a joke John? I DIDN'T make the claims, I simply found a guy who saw the need to chronicle them. Maybe now you start to see my point?
