I've tried probably every swami...TT, a variety of boons, Lincoln's Best Boon, even scotch taped some pencil lead beneath my thumbnail in a pinch.
THIS IS THE BEST. Bob Solari. Swami Secure. I'm ordering two right now because I keep losing them. I use the grease pencil/listo ones, which look exactly like black crayon. I don't use black crayon for the swami itself (maybe I should), but I use China marker lead for the swami. In performance I use a black crayon. A black crayon is useful for other reasons (don't need to blow on it to dry before folding a billet, won't mark up your hands). Bob Solari is a genius. |

No, that is a TT writer. Unfortunately, the Solaris Swami Secure is no longer available.
I just purchased two of them from Madhatter, which was advertising (and still is after I informed them of it) the original Swami Secure. However, they sent me Swami Supreme, which as inferior. Unworkable. The Swami Supreme is much larger. The flanges overlap entirely over the back of my thumbnail, which is not only unnecessary (you need it to grip only the sides of your thumb), but also conspicuous. Even after cutting them shorter, and adjusting it tighter, it still wobbles around on my thumb (not secure at all). I'm very sad about it. Finally, the tiny cup that holds the listo lead is longer. This means the distance between your thumb and the writing surface is greater--less stability. It's like your writing with a pencil and holding the eraser. So disappointed. Why change what was already perfect? I just got back from a show, used the Supreme, and when my business card was turned over, nobody saw any writing. I had to scribble over it with crayon so the impression would show up. This is because I couldn't apply enough pressure since it was so unstable, even after all my efforts to make it like the original. This here looks exactly like the Swami Secure http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/5568 That's out of stock though. I just ordered this https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S21298. I like the grease pencil because it writes darker, but I also got the pencil version just in case I change my mind. P.S. If you apparently wrote your prediction with a pencil, and your prediction is in marker or listo/grease lead or even blue ink, nobody will comment on the discrepancy. Something I discovered. So no need to worry about the prediction matching your utensil exactly. |

Just figured out that the listo lead that came with the Swami Supreme doesn't write.
I changed it out with actual China marker lead (which I think I bought at Staples or Joanne Fabrics...bought a box of China markers), and the China marker lead writes great. Pencil lead is often light gray, and therefore does not work well in dim lighting. Listo lead (from a real China marker) is black, so it shows up clearly on the white background you're probably writing on. Another advantage to listo/grease marker/China marker is that you don't have to press as hard to make visible writing. |

Bill at Madhatter just admitted that it's a Chinese effort at the original Swami Secure.
Of course I requested a refund of the $40 I spent (bought two), since they sent me a different product than was advertised. Madhatter refused refund. First time I bought from Madhatter was in 2008. 2018 is the last time I bought from Madhatter. |
