Interesting how the reverse has two designers, Lyndall Bass and Joseph Menna.
The typography is horrendous. Strips with no stars, what' up with that? "The 2010 Lincoln Cent features a new reverse design which is expected to be used for the foreseeable future. The design is meant to be emblematic of Lincoln’s preservation of the United States as a single and unified country. The reverse features the union shield with thirteen vertical stripes and a horizontal bar with the motto “E Pluribus Unum”. This is intended to represent the thirteen original states joined as a single compact union. A banner draped across the shield bears the denomination “One Cent”. The reverse was designed by Lyndall Bass and sculpted by Joseph Menna. The obverse of the coin will continue to feature the portrait of Lincoln designed by Victor D. Brenner."

It looks more artificial, plastic and less "currency-like" than most other coins. The whole recent re-design program of the US currency has been a turn for the worse, IMO.
It all looks like monopoly money to me. On the other hand I think the implication is that this is going to be a solid alloy coin, not just plated, so that would be very nice from an aesthetic point of view.

The other designs they considered can be viewed here...
http://2010lincolncents.com The Capitol would have been a better choice IMHO. The paper money doesn't look so hot either. I bought some uncirculated $2 bills today and was comparing the engraving quality to new bills. No contest.

Does anyone know of a manufacture that is producing jumbo coins with a nickel finish? I have 3 that I had plated in the 80's but was wondering if anyone is producing them yet. I hate the peuter jumbo coins.
Thanks.
