Hey Guys,

I will be posting a review of the book in the next few days.

What I can tell you, right now, is that the book looks fantastic. Stunning art, a very unique approach to designing a book, wonderful material, and a great writer.

Stay tuned for a proper review, and if you have any questions (about the book itself- I cannot answer shipping or release questions since I'm not affiliated with VanishingInc and I don't know the answers!) let me know!

Best,
Ben Train

Thanks for the kind words, Ben. I don't come to the Café often, but I will try to check back regularly to answer questions about Rune's book. I JUST saw it myself, and I'm so very happy with it. It is a different kind of magic book--and not everyone will like everything because Rune is so unique and out there--but I believe he is a visionary and a wonderful magician, and I think the book offers a fresh perspective on both coin and parlor magic. I hope you all enjoy, and your orders should be arriving any day now!

Still Waiting for my copy. Hopefully it will come in tomorrow.

I already know that I'm going to need a second copy of the book, because I have a feeling that I will be reading the book as soon as I get it.

Just got my copy of Rune's World -- literally last night. Not enough time to delve deeply into the material, but first reactions:

Total package is high quality: well-designed and well produced. The dust cover for customers is a nice collectible value-add. The illustrations are clear and PLENTIFUL. Type is readable and simple. Two-part approach is entertaining and a smart reflection of the two parallel but different paths that characterize Rune's work.

Tone from start to finish is a pure Rune. Check out the title page when you can. Classic Klan kind of humor.

Signature inlay from both Rune and Josh enhance the collectible nature and quality feel of the whole project. Nice touch.

Companion DVD is a generous addition for the price and probably especially valuable given the quirky presentation style of Rune. Hard to capture him completely in print. (I say probably because I haven't viewed it yet. More to come.)

3 Pieces of Silver DVD -- not yet viewed, but it sits, taunting me on my desk, eager for me to quit my work and watch it. Again, more to come ...

Congrats to Rune and Josh on the project. I really feel like Vanishing Inc., especially with the debut of this project, is setting the stage to give other major magic book publishers a run for their money. This is not a side or hobby enterprise for Josh and Andi. It's a serious competitor.

I'll post more when I can.

I'll post more once I get some real time with it..

Ive had his Three Pieces of Silver video since it first came out...

Hes style from back then is very, very different from now...But the magic on it is superb. Way ahead of its time IMO....

I would recommend this dvd to anyone.

This is a great book! I ordered my copy four days ago. It arrived yesterday and I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I'm not a close-up guy to a certain degree; however, I did get a lot out of the reading. The coverage of Rune's stand-up was extremely valuable. I really enjoyed the comic book/ story boarding of many of Rune's stand up and stage act. I especially liked the DVD as it had an interview with Joshua Jay interviewing Rune. You can tell that Rune is the same on and off stage. His mind is always working and in everything he says, there is a generous dose of humor. It's very well written and will be among my favorite modern magic books!

Got my book a couple of days ago. And let me say that after learning how to do some of the coin work, my knuckles are hurting. But overall this is a great book. It has given me so many ideas for a stand up act.

I got the book specifically for the stand up material and am completely satisfied with the book. The stand up material is mostly gags but there is also some really great magic mixed in there, like a trick with a signed speeding ticket and another with a signed piece of ham. I am also a huge fan of the beard prediction. I have been messing around with this since reading it in one of Karrel Fox book. I have been trying to find a way to force the beard, the routine in Rune's World is simple and is going to play much bigger then any ideas I have had.

This is a great book.

Design is appropriate for the material. The first half of the book is very technical sleight of hand, where illustrations by Tony Dunn are necessary. The second part, as discussed in other posts, gives the routines the comedic feel that would otherwise be hard to convey with traditional line illustrations. I'm enjoying this very much.
