I dropped one once, same thing. Broke like glass.
I just use the supermagnetman.com models now, they're dirt cheap, relatively strong and attractive looking. However, the finish doesn't always wear on them that well. Well, chrome does actually, but the silver or gold you have to polish once in a while. Eventually you'll polish the plating all off, but heck, for $8 or whatever, big deal. Probably better off getting a new ring by then anyway. Or just buy the chrome models. I've some of their chrome rings for over 2 years, worn everyday, and they still look like new.
