Hey all,
For a very long time a little mystery has plagued me and maybe some of you detectives out there can solve it for me. Who wrote the little blurb about Tony Corinda on the inside front of the jacket of '13 Steps'? The only clue are the initials, D.J. A friend of mine, who is far more skilled at internet study, suggests that it might be a fellow named D. J. West, an academic from the late fifties.. Corinda himself was always a fan of cryptic acronyms.. Perhaps D.J. simply stands for Dust Jacket. Any other thoughts? Best, Paul Pacific

He was dyslexic -- it's actually J.D. -- which of course is J.D. Salinger.
J.D. was a big fan of mentalism. In his first draft of "Cather in the Rye", the main character was actually called Max Maven, which is amazing considering Max Maven didn't even exist at the time, which proves J.D. was rather good at prediction effects. At least, that's what I've heard. Could be wrong. |

Also, if this D.J. is in fact a real individual, what possible motive would he have to hide his identity? This is almost like a dulled-down version of Erdnase's mysterious identity. You'd think he'd be eager to put his name on the book based on the praises he sings for Corinda in the blurb!

I do! I absolutely do.
I also know that we probably shouldn't be speaking of Mr. Simpson in the past tense, as he is, to my knowledge, still very much alive. |

It wouldn't surprise me if Mr. Simpson is here on this very board amongst us all.. He is VERY much alive and I bet he ALONE knows the answer to the puzzle.. Thomas, if you are here please give me a clue as to the identity of D.J.

Lmao! Not YOU, Thomas B, but Thomas Simpson! I thought maybe it was Jaks too, but why not simply say on the jacket, Dr. Jaks, rather than D.J. I mean really, it's only four more letters to add. odd

It's not initials.
Corinda asked a random Disc Jockey to say something nice about him in change for a beer...

If anybody else has any idea who this might be, please post here. Surely, somebody knows who wrote it.. My guess is it was Corinda himself.
