Where is a good place to purchase a quality Hawaiian shirt?
On-line or through mail order. I'm talking about the sort of thing one might wear to a private ceremony on a beach at a resort. Obviously, I can google and find plenty of places ... but I was hoping that someone here might be able to recommend a particular source from first hand experience.

You are the master of looking stuff up, but if I were you I would go to ebay.

Well, I found quite a number of vendors online. Karmakula in the U.K. appears to have some classy looking stuff. And Tommy Bahama in the U.S. even has a wedding line of Hawaiian shirts. But now I am wondering whether I should not just wait until I get to Hawaii, and find something local. That should be easy to do, but I hate to do anything last minute.
I did not realise until today that on the islands, nice Hawaiian shirts are actually acceptable as formal wear and business attire.

The best place on the Hawaiian Islands. Been there bought the shirts. What you see on the website is but a small representation of what is stocked in the stores. FWIW

I work with colleague who regularly travels to Hawaii. He's said that there are subtle differences -- and that to get a good quality shirt you need to be there and get guidance from a local. Good luck!

FWIW, just to follow up years later, this Hawaiian label became my favourite supplier of shirts:
http://www.toririchard.com/ Personally, I prefer the cut and fit of their 100% Cotton Lawn styles. The others (the silks, orange label, blends) have been hit or miss for me. YMMV. I think there are more than a few teachers on here. You might like the 'Theory' pattern on the third page of the cotton lawn shirts. Note, they have fairly frequent sales so join the mailing list to receive notifications.

I have several shirts made by R J Clancy under different labels. Most are cotton and have lasted 8-10 years when hand laundered. Living in So. California, I wear them quite often so they might last an occasional wearer even longer. Checkout rjchawaii.com.
