I'm trying to track down a copy of Harbottle's Cointopia. Well, mostly I'm trying to learn the fingertip muscle pass. But along the way I've become interested in looking at the rest of Cointopia, as well. Add to that that I'm now also interested in getting ahold of Coins on the Edge.
But both Cointopia and CotE are proving very difficult to find. I sent Harbottle an email via his website, but haven't had a reply yet. Any leads on either a) where I can get a copy of the above works, or b) how else I can learn this move, would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think Kainoa post here on the Café any longer. but, sometimes you can catch him on facebook. His F.T. M.P. is a version of Curtis' "tiddlywinks Move." What Kainoa did was bring it up to chest height. Kainoa's sleight can be found on one of the NYCS DVDS. sorry I don't have them in front of me right now to tell ya which one.

I posted in haste. Kainoa recently returned my email and will be sending me both Coins on Edge and Cointopia. Unsurprisingly, he's seeing rising interest in his ftmp since Ponta's DVD came out.
I may still pick up the NYCS Vol1 disks at some point. But I like starting with a text before turning to an instructional video. Thanks for the tip on that, and also on the pointer to Curtis Kam's Tidlywinks move.

It's a lot easier to do catching the coins in a fan. Catching a single coin using the finger tip muscle pass is difficult. It helps to curl in all the fingers except the index. Catch with index and thumb, that way it doesn't hit the palm. At first its difficult to propel the coin, but after practice it becomes easy, and it becomes harder to catch it.

It also helps to use smooth coins.

In the New York Coin Magic Seminar DVD series, volume 10 (Magnetic Coins III), I teach a slight refinement on Kainoa's move, that made it easier for me (and Kainoa thought it was easier as well). As stated above, Kainoa explains his move in volume 1.

I just want to follow up, here and say how hospitable and helpful I find this forum compared to many others I've seen. I keep learning from everyone here, both from the public posts and from private messages. Thanks!

Yeah, lmgtfy.com is a fun site to spring on somebody. In the case of the two Magic Café threads it's been connected with, the result ironically points back to this very thread.

I figured when learning the FT MP from Kainoa Harbottle's DVD that it didn't really work for me, I do it kind of reversed, I push more with the thumb than with the other fingers, and I found that it flies way more that way...

In my new Penguin Live lecture, I demonstrate a variation that I use which Kainoa has himself said is easier to do, but just as effective. Used in my Magnetic Coins routine.

I first bought a download of Kainoa Harbottle's fingertip muscle pass that was very basic and didn't really get it down well in the way he described it. I did however, get a version of it down good enough for "my intended use" (secretly loading coins into a TKO 2.0). Vanishing Inc then came out with a download of both Kainoa and Colin McNamara that brought it to another level (at least for me).
https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic-......le-pass/ I personally find it easier to do and just as effective as the regular muscle pass that I have been working on for years with no luck (other than a short side to side). I also feel like it is a much more natural feel when doing "the coin that jumps up" using the FTMP over the regular MP. Whether you use it as taught by Kainoa or another variation (like Micheal Rubinstein's or even your own) it is well worth checking out the inexpensive download and going from there. It is a fantastic move both "openly done" or "on the sly".
