Hey guys. It has recently become apparent that I am in need of a business card, and so I have put together this design. Any feedback would be appreciated. (Just so you know, I do usually wear a hat when performing)

I've been an art director for 13 years, and I've been in the magic biz for many of those year as well. So I've seen a good deal of magician's business cards, and most of them are pretty awful.

I think yours is much nicer than most magician's business cards that I have seen - I am a fan of a more minimalist design, on business cards.

That said, I happen to think that the tan color on your card, does nothing for it. The color itself is not that appealing, and it apparently has no significance (unless your site has some black/white/tan color scheme?).

I think it works better as just black and white.

I'll keep that open as an alternative, seen as I'm still in the process of designing the site. At the moment, though, I have been using this colour a lot in the site. I'd ideally have the card match the site as closely as possible, but I don't want the website to be too black and white.

With all due respect for any resident expertise here, I happen to like the subtle use of the tan color... It's not overbearing and gives some welcomed option from the card just being a sterile black & white. Just my view. I think it's a nice card and quite impressive as to overall design. Good job!

I also agree with the Tan added to the card It breaks up the Black and white

It would be pretty cool if you could lose the "kiss me quick" band(jk) and get a hat band to match your card,even better if you could get a hat to match the card as well!Not quite so much Sadowitz then,more Joe Williamson.

I've been in the art world long enough to have grown quite a thick skin. I've had what I thought was nice work, been ripped to shreds by people with no consideration for an artist's precious ego. Because of that, I now have almost no ego. So I guess it's a good thing!

Anyway, I think maybe I'm just not a fan of the tan, no offense Joe. I do like the card and the design.

And it's great that you are giving your card the same look/color/feel as your site - that's very important.

I like your card alot, Joe. I can see where Danny is coming from. Just black and white may pack more visual "punch", but I really like the tan. I'm an earthy kind of girl. I think the tan provides an interesting subtlety, whereas straight black and white, in concept, seems magician cliche, to me. The tan is an interesting choice. I'm repeating myself. Nice work.

I agree with Danny, lose the tan color.
It doesn't fit with the look of the rest of the card.
Almost like it was misprinted. Its just odd.
Probably because its like a shadow and not a color.
If you want to add some punch to the card, make that
side red!

Imagination... I don't know how many have seen it, but there's an S&R performance of an illusion in which a voice says, "Imagination..." and I just heard it after reading the post that followed mine, FWIW.

Other options are to make all the white spots tan.
Its good that you are trying to match your web site.
But most designers will tell you that mixing an earth
tone color to non earth tone colors is bad form.

That said, Guinness has mad a lot from a drink called
a Black and Tan. LOL But note that its not a Black and
Tan and White. Just something to think about.

Either way looks good but I'd vote for just the black and white.

I like it, go with the black and white version.

Keep the tan.
Have you tried putting the reflection under the "William" in gray?
Curious to see how that looks.

Very nice as is though.

Since you are the product, why not have your picture somewhere on the card so people will remember you? It will have much more impact and be much more effective in getting you work than a design that means nothing to the recipient.
