I have used a Mak Crystal Silk Cylinder for a while and really like it, I've used it to produce a lightsaber and it works quite well for that, and it fits the show well enough that I want to keep doing it.
Mak no longer makes their cylinder, though, and mine broke - the bottom came off the inner piece. So I bought a few more, and of the three I got, ONE was usable. The other two were sold as being fine, but were so old and discolored that they were just junk. The one worked fine for a month, then broke - the bottom came off again. I can repair that one (the first one really broke, the second one just had the glue give way) but I'm getting nervous about continuing to use it. And I don't want to try replacing it again, I was displeased with how many unusable cylinders I got, and with how long this one lasted, so I'm thinking that as much as I like it, it's gotta get replaced. Unfortunately, the new cylinders I see are smaller, and just can't hold the load I've got. The Mak cylinder's load chamber is 10 inches high and 3 inches across, and I use just about all of that space. I tried an Ickle Pickle cylinder, and while it looked SHARP it is just not big enough. So does anyone know a cylinder that has a load chamber of equivalent space? Or have any good suggestions for another production box with a similarly sized load chamber? Thanks in advance! |

How about 9-1/2" high and 3-1/2" in dia? If that will work, then take a look at this heavy duty plexi glass model. here

If that one does not meet your needs, how about 11" high x 5" in dia. Same great quality. here

Thank you!
I think the first one is a bit small but the second one could work well, though I might put more into it so that my one lightsaber isn't lost in there ... but neither of these seem to have the second tube? I know some folks don't use it but I've always considered it a rather important part of the trick ... I might email them and ask! |

Sorry, did not see that curve ball coming. I only tried to provide an answer to your initial request. I think the Ickle Pickle brand can provide the 'Addition' Tube.
They have been making these for a long time, so I suggest you email your interest in a 'Addition' Tube. Maybe they have had other request and can provide. If not make one out of cardboard or seek a plexiglass company in your area or on the Internet. This light saber is just a flashlight with an extension tubing, correct. I do not see how it will not fit in a standard Ickle Pickle tube, that thing is big. Maybe you should just call Ickle Pickle and see if they can make it longer for you. The Ickle Pickle brand looks big to me. Unless you want to put your hand in the tube to retreve and turn it one all at once. Anyway those are my suggestions to resolve your delimma. |

Dazzling magic has a DVD on the silk cyclinder and they never use a second cover and it is not needed. Start with the load and the cover over the tube. Remove both to show the cylinder empty. That is the selling point they have already seen the cover come off the tube. Put whatever you are changing into the clear tube then cover again with the load and the cover. When the see the cover come off the clear tube that sells it. By the way the Dazzling magic Silk Cylinders are the best ones on the market right now.

I have seen the Ickle Pickle one but it won't fit a lightsaber, it's just too narrow and too short. But a GORGEOUS tube, I was rather disappointed I couldn't make it work!
Well, maybe I'll take a shot at the Dazzling ones. They are nice looking, I am just used to the addition and really like it - but hey, doesn't mean it really is necessary! And I did email them to see if they have a second tube, never hurts to ask, but at the moment I think I'll be going for it either way. Thank you two for the advice, it really helped! |

I talked to Marty and the smaller cylinder was just a BIT too short and wouldn't hold my load ... and he tells me he was just about to make some more and offered to cut one longer for me.
So I now have a brand new Dazzling cylinder that seems WONDERFUL - it's quite a bit sturdier than the Mak cylinder - and have had one of the best customer experiences ever. |
