I am working on turning my home into a Bed & Breakfast with a Murder Mystery or Spirit Theatre option for the guest. I have the Spirit Theatre thing down , but I have only been to a Murder Mystery once, and it was poorly done. I like the concept of a Murder Mystery but I can not present one unless I feel that it is truly entertaining.
Does any one know where to obtain quality scripts? (Preferable ones that I can alter to fit my home and style) What about a script to fit a Bizarrist? Does anyone have experience in this area? Thanks so much, Don

The Old Rimshaw House or the Simmons mansion that's where I would host a murder mystery if I was still in Mayberry Barney http://www.mysteries-on-the-net.com/index.html

Well I actually have the perfect house already, it is my home. The whole Theatre thing needs to be performed at my B&B. Plus I already do Spirit Theatre out of my home. But thank you
I need to know about scripts. Thanks Don

Hi Don,
Many moons ago I was a script writer and director (sometime actor or stage manager) for a very successful Murder Mystery Company in the Mid-West called "Hits For Hire". We wrote custom scripts for corporate events, wealthy clients, and nonprofit fundraisers. There's a lot more than you'd think to making these work, particularly because your audience members are involved in the action and must be carefully handled and controlled. The scenario is only one small aspect, the rehearsal of an impromptu script is even harder, and you must have skilled actors so it's not cheesy. If you want to call me sometime I'd be happy to talk about my experience with this company and similar ventures. I was a union actor/director for some twenty years, and have also crafted numerous scripts, so I have some insights here I feel. BTW it is possible to incorporate Magic into a Murder Mystery evening, we did it with one Vampire plot very successfully in a Chicago landmark mansion. Magically, Walt |

Don,
Where are you located? My company has been doing corporate murder mysteries for about 17 years now. We also do them aboard a local dinner train each month, which are the only shows currently open to the public. I'm based out of Louisville, KY. Paul
