Hi guys,
I've recently been working with the flying shuttle pass (Jay Sankey's variation of a David Roth move I believe) and I know that it is used in many coin production routines. What I want to know is, has the flying shuttle ever been used as a visual production? For example, the empty right hand reaches out and grabs an invisible coin, this coin is tossed into the left hand, where it is seen to materialise, being seen to 'drop' into the face up left hand. It's such a simple idea that I am sure it must have been used before, but my coin library isn't too expansive so I thought I would ask here. Thanks in advance, MIKE

What specifically are you asking?
look at coin-go-return in apocalypse magazine for one application. The use of the pop-out from FP has made it into print in various ways including as a midair spellbound change done front on to the audience using my one handed vanish sleight in combination. The miser's dream use was also explored. I believe this was pretty much done by 1978 as Ken Krenzel showed me his pickup sleight and my sticky fingers don't let coins slide around to easily so I had to use inertia and some hand/arm action to move the coin. Old news - the important thing is that you are exploring and I hope you find some applications that work for you.

Thanks for the information Jonathan, I'll certainly look through Apocalypse
What I meant (although I didn't word it particularly well) was has the left hand action of a flying shuttle (ie the coin 'flying' from FP to lie on the palm of the face up hand) been used to apparently show an invisible coin materialising as it is tossed from one hand to the other after being apparently plucked from the air. Or more specifically, has the application been put into a book or DVD that I can look up? Hope this clears things up and thanks again for the help. MIKE

Mike, yes that coin production has been in use since about that time as well. In routined combination with my back clip recovery as a second production too.
Since Kenner/Liwag published the flim-flam-yim-yam inertial recovery - it's also safe to say that you can use this as a s/cb change as well. Just get out your C/S gaff and try - obvious IMHO. Anyway - IMHO it's most important to ask you to focus on what works best for you and suggest that you fret over where it fits in the history of our works later. Later if you feel there's something so significant that it simply MUST be published as it offers so much of an improvement over everything else that's available that it would be both worth the risk of exposure via gossip/internet to make the work available... folks from the NY Coin Symposium crew Mike Gallo, Michael Rubinstein, Curtis Kam, Kainoa Harbottle and more can help get the historical perspective before you go making claims of novelty.

Thanks Jonathan
I'm certainly not suggesting this idea was original with me, the reason I ask if it was in print or on DVD was simply because I was interested in any applications and wanted to check them out and see what has been done with this idea before. MIKE

Jim, it's used on Homers' CoinOne DVD, but, alas, there's no speaking...

Mike, if you want to know - you ask the person who made the discovery and showed it around. Mike Gallo mentioned (some time ago) that there are others who have explored it and have their own work with it. He and Mike Rubenstein as well as Wes James might have some great pointers as to who to ask about their explorations. If you go back far enough some folks might even credit that pop/flying appearance to Presto.

Yep that's it alright and very well done pro.
So mike g, here's the yim-yam on this flim-flam ...You should just reach out to prototype here for his thoughts about it as he's giving it right to you straight w/no chaser. I would think his views on this are as good as anyone else's mentioned here and a lot more immediately accessible if you want to learn about it and do it more expediently, plus he's a pretty good guy.
