Magicsquared has come up with an alternate handling that should work very well (unfortunately it is only applicable with iPhones). I've asked him if I can share it with users of TOUCH.
lumberjohn, have you tried out any of the routines for an audience? I think you may be surprised that what you call weaknesses don't exist at all. Benny, Thanks for the kind words, Mark and I really appreciate it. And to everyone else who has read TOUCH, thank you for the support and always looking forward to where others bring the idea! Good Thoughts, Jason |

Magicsquared shared his idea with me and it's very nice, helps to justify something for those who are a little hesitant to use the basic method.
I'm really enjoying TOUCH and still find the Sneak Thief variation to be the best way to use it, though I'm sure within a few weeks there will be plenty of other ideas. Touch Thief is very well thought out and even takes care of what Lumberjohn mentioned as the tough moment when the heat is on. What you have to do for this routine perfectly justifies the secret work. I still find no problem with the method, but did want to point out that there are many ways of justifying what some might be worried about doing on the first few tries. I thought I'd also mention that I don't pull out my iPhone and say, "check this out". Rather, I spot people who have iPhones and iPod Touch and after doing a completely different effect or 2 (without a phone), I let them ask me for more and use that opportunity to borrow their phone and try out something "I just came up with". I try to make it as "improvised" as possible and just use their phone as a clear way of visualizing/hearing something. In my presentation, it's always clear that even if they didn't hand me the phone, I could do the exact same effect (which is completely true). Using Touch simply allows for a very easy and direct method. Of course, I also use my own iPhone as well and let the opportunity present itself, which is often. I'm always playing around with my phone anyways. Combine this with iForce; you and your spectators will have a lot of fun. Mauricio |

Jason,
I haven't tried out any of the routines yet, though I plan to next week to see how they play. My comments were based upon my experience with similar effects (such as impression pads) and magic theory, such as that contained in Darwin Ortiz's "Strong Magic" on what characterizes strong v. weak effects. I haven't given up on Touch, but will need to test drive it for a final opinion. |

Anyone interested in TOUCH, I'm giving the original Method Impossible away for free with each purchase for next couple of days. Since I'm turning over all my products to be sold through a magic retailer the price will likely go up in a few weeks.
I love that you can do this with anyone's iPhone/iPod Touch and with a little bit of charm you can make seem like you never touch the thing. http://www.secretmagicstuff.com/touch-by......messina/ Email me if you have any questions. As always thanks for reading my stuff.... Best, Jason PS: Touch is the last effect I'm releasing to magic community. The Miracle Model will be published later this year (not a trick per se) and then I'm off to perform and write non-magic stuff. Thanks to everyone who made the books I've published so far a success and for all the support. Hope to see everyone at http://surfthegasp.com |
