This was the first Doomsday Gathering and what a Gathering it turned out to be. The doors opened on Friday 5.30 pm to a wonderful display of effects by Aquarius. They displayed everything a Bizarre Magician would and could wish for. From Crystal Balls to books and far beyond. A wonderful display tastefully put together by the Aquarius team. Dan Baines the proprietor of Lebanon Circle Magic launched his new effects and stunned us all with his amazing new props and his futuristic ideas. Imagine a Doll that seats inside a Spirit Cabinet and performing at your command! For those of you that did not see Dan's new creations must make sure they will see this men's new ideas it is just jaw dropping.
The Doomsday Gathering started at around 6 pm with Michael Diamond doing his beatifully scripted act. This followed by Anthony Jacquin with some head spinning "Who Done it" routine using Mentalism combined with Hypnotism a great routine. Next came Paul Bell that surprised us all with his seance. Paul is a master of his craft and must be seen to be believed. The evening closed at around 9.30 pm with the deligates retiering to the Bar until the small hours. Saturday started at 10am with the official Doomsday opening with Frank Allen. Frank is a Wizard at his work. His opening Ceremony was amazing and unforgettable. Frank called upon the Spirits and they have materialized in front of our eyes upon his sword. A glass flew of the table and hit the floor it was just Magickal! Roger Curzon followed with his wonderfully constructed lecture with many well thought out effects. Roger is a wonderful lecturer with much original material. Lunch break came after that and we have all retired to Sneaton Castle's dining hall. The Ploughman's lunch was included in the price of the ticket which was £25. for Doomsday 2010. After lunch we where entertained by the unbelievable Brian Maxwell. His show is a Comedy Bizarre act you should see in order to believe. It is a scream! Where will you see a skeleton being produced only to sing a song and than vanish. What an act!! After Brian we where treated to a superb lecture by Frank Allen. Great lecture full of excellent ideas so tastefully put together. After Frank came Doc Steve. Our own Steve Murray with a superb and very powerful act. We have witnessed the Spirits talking and we saw how a "Witch" was tested. Steve is a great powerful performer that loves Bizarre Magick and his show is a delight. After Steve we had our Master Story Teller Leslie Melville. His story this time was built upon Jack the Ripper and the ghosts and spirits came through via an upside down wine glass that gave yes or no answers to questions. Leslie finished his well thought out theatrical routine with a very funny story that helped us relax and laugh. The day came to its conclusion with the closing ceremony, beautifully constructed by Frank Allen, with a very loud explosion to ensure we all knew it was the end of this wonderful day Doomsday. I would like to add that tickets to Doomsday 2011 are going very fast (Yet again) Most of the attendees paid their deposit for next year and once more we found ourselves with the demand higher then we could imagine. If you want to be part of Doomsday 2011 now is the time to register your interest! With Dark Wishes, Roni |

It sounds like Doomsday was a TOTALLY AWESOME experience.
What a great convention it must have been. Tony
As magicians we create what onlookers call magic. If they truly believe in what we have created for them to witness then magic is real!!!

It was great, good friends, great magic, excellent venue. Just awesome!!
Dan Bains new "Dolls" are difficult to describe. I must steal a Max Maven line and say a they are "frighteningly beautiful". Roni's overview is complete, but understates the IMPACT of Frank Allens final explosion. The best smoke effects I can remember followed by a really BIG BANG. WOW !!!!!!!! Viano2 |
