Can any historians of juggling/vaudeville provide me with references to this term
OTHER THAN the book "Contact Juggling" by James Earnest? I've met several older jugglers who were around for the tail end of vaudeville. None of them were familiar with the term "camel-backing." (For those unaware, the Earnest book claims that "camel-backing" was the term used for "contact juggling" by vaudevillian jugglers.) This makes me suspect a hoax. |

When I think of Camel-backing in only gives me naughty thoughts. It sounds to me like Mr. Earnest made that story up to cover up the fact that he was stealing Michael Moschen's private property.
