Hi there,
I am looking for a program that I can load my email contacts into and send them my newsletters and information regularily. I would like each email to be personal though. Eg, I want each email to begin with Hi ________Clients first name______, I notice that when I get mass emails from John Kaplan and Brad Ross they all say: Hi Thomas, and it goes into there info and email. What programs do this. I have a PC and right now I use MS Outlook 2007. Can I program Outlook to do this for me? Thanks. |

Im looking for a program that I don't have to login to anything. pergaps something like Outlook that I can download and use as a program. All I want to do is take my distribution list for say my schools and personalize the email.
I have 200 emails in that list and I want the email to read differently from what I have been starting it off with. " Eg. Hi there, " I would rather it read.... " Hi James or Hi Principle Stevens, " Something personal. Other than that, I don't need fancy forms or newsletter templates, which those companies you have mentioned above offer. I just want to put in my information that I would normally do, but make each email personal, without sending off 200 seperate emails LOL. Thanks for the help so far. |

There are probably a few plugins for that, but.....
You don't want to do it that way for a few reasons. 1. The others force you to be I-CANN Spam complient so you don't get in trouble with the goverment. 2. Sending through a 3rd party system will protect your domain from being listed as a spammer 3. higher delivery rate 4. it forces you ti be I-CANN Spam complient 5. Did I mention the whole I-Cann Spam issue??

Hi Donald.
Good point. That was a typo because I was up late and a bit tired when typing. Thanks. |

The subscription services also offer a VERY important tool that Outlook plug-ins won't: Tracking. I use Constant Contact. I can tell which emails are received and opened and which ones bounced. I am told why they bounced so I can fix the error. I know when they were opened and how often they are reopened. I know which clients click through to which links included in my emails. You can't do this through Outlook.
Services like Constant Contact also provide easy sign-up for new clients and easy removal for those who no longer want to receive my emails. This keeps my reputation free and clear of that "Spam" animosity. As Mike pointed out, your business email address and ISP are your marketing lifeblood. Lose them due to suspected spamming and you'll have to start from scratch. Keeping costs down is a great thing, but don't automatically go for the cheapest idea when dealing with your business.

I agree... the tracking data is so important. Without it, you won't know if 1 person or half your list are even reading your newsletter.
I use mailchimp. It's free for the first 500 people I think It is a hosted service, so you can access the program anywhere, like gmail. It also hooks into Google Analytics for free if you want it to. Plus you can import or export your contacts easily, plus it is SPAM-CAN compliant, which is important, at least in the states. |

Remember, the popularity of these 3rd party mail programs has grown primarily because they take the liability off of you from maxing out your server traffic or black-listing issues . . . just read the terms and conditions carefully and be keen on what is allowed and not allowed when emailing large lists . . .
