Release date: June 15th, 2010

Hi everyone! I am SO excited about my new DVD coming out in June!

I am posting this here on Little Darlings because it IS a kids show and it is for kid-show magicians who are looking for some great ideas for a Halloween show.

In October of 2009 I had my Halloween magic Show videotaped by a professional video service. It was a two camera shoot in front of a live elementary school audience of about 300 kids. The DVD will show my 45 minute Halloween magic show complete without interruption followed by a 30 minute explanations session. The show is loaded with material, all Halloween themed, and with safety tips added which helps to sell this show to schools and libraries.

The great thing about this DVD is that many of the props you will see me using are made by "Yours Truly" and can be made at very little cost . . . .

Routines on the DVD will include my musical opener with the Multiplying eyeballs (Fakini) with a surprise ending. The Silver Scepter performed in my own wacky style. Bunnicula's Castle (rabbit production). My rendition of The Cat made famous by one of my favorite magicians Trevor Lewis (a routine I know you will like and use!!!)
My handling of Flashlite Fun followed with the Ghost Gavel(a Gavel that is haunted by spirits!)

Also, The Haunted Jack-O-Lantern, a prop easily made and the perfect running gag for a Halloween show. The flying Ghost which is a hilarious 7 minute routine with an audience volunteer and a picture of a ghost. The floating skull of Dracula . . . you've probably never seen a zombie performed in this fashion before! My handling of Mike Bent's "Forgetfull Frankie" performed with a routine loaded with Halloween safety (The educators love this!)(Don't worry Mike, no secrets revealed, but I'm sure you will benefit from this video!) And what show wouldn't be complete without "The Viper!!!!"

I KNOW there is something for everyone on this DVD along with LOTS of antics and one-liners. I am hoping this new DVD will be a video resource for kid-show magicians for years to come.

The attachment below is a pic taken from a "still shot" from the actual video and shows my stage set up. Will be releasing on June 15. Retail price $34.95plus P&H. Pre order until June 15th for 29.95 plus postage. Pm me if interested. You WON'T be disappointed!!!

Update: The duplication company has informed me that I will have the DVD's in my possession by June 18th. Anyone who has pre-ordered . . . I have already notified you via e mail that I will ship them out to the you same day they arrive in my hands.

The show was recorded in front of 300 elementary school students in October of 2009.
On this DVD you will get to see first-hand how each routine plays out in front of a live audience and their reactions and responses to each routine. You will see that EVERY routine works in this show and there is something for everyone. I especially love the high-pitched screams from the kids as the "Skull of Dracula" begins to rise and then peek over the cloth . . . priceless!

Attached is the jpeg of the DVD cover. Anyone interested in pre ordering, I will honor any orders til June 15th. Send $32.95 to Pay Pal I.D Tommyjamesmagic@yahoo.com

After the 15th price is $34.95 plus shipping.

Tommy,

The picture looks great! I have a Magic Backdrop as well and love it. The added "Sign" you have at the top really adds to the look of your stage.

Do you include other ideas and tips such as how/where to get the shows?

Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the compliments Smile

This is the first year I've used the sign and it really compliments the backdrop and whole theme of the show.I love Jeff's backdrops. I started with the standard one but after he offered the bigger one I had to purchase it.

I don't go into a lot of detail on the DVd about marketing the show. I really only market this to schools and libraries and offering safety in this show makes this a no-brainer to market. I mail a simple post card with a cover letter in an envelope to schools and libraries at the end of August and the calls start rolling in. When speaking to a potential client on the phone I tell them straight out that it is not an entire show of Halloween safety. It is a high-energy, exciting Halloween magic show with safety tips in parts of the program. I market it as;

"The Halloween Magic Show"
With Halloween Safety

It is the bottom line of that advertisement that I strongly feel markets the show, especially to the schools. The entire show is not safety themed, as that would be boring to kids. There are three skits that I perform in the show with safety tips. One is The Cat by Trevor Lewis which has a built in safety theme of "Wear something BRIGHT at NIGHT"
I also have included my routine with Flashlight Fun (You can tell I like Trevor Lewis huh? )
And I have come up with a nice routine utilizing Mike Bent's Forgetful Frankie which covers many Halloween safety tips . . . so the kids are learning and they don't even know it!

One thing I know magicians will enjoy on this DVD is my routine with the Zombie Skull, especially the ending which is hilarious if I have to say so myself! After the skull goes wild, I place the " Skull of Dracula" back into his box, and the lid slowly starts to rise and the kids go nuts . . of course I don't see it right away (look don't see) and I play it up a couple of times. I go into detail on how to make the zombie skull AND the box at the end of the DVD.

Expected delivery of the DVD is June 18th. I can't wait!

As good as the Zombie Skull routine sounds, a quick google search shows that it has been discontinued and is no longer available Smile I am guessing you show how to rectify this with the normal Zombie ball?

Also...any luck with the Promo Vid?

I made my Zombie Skull. Around Halloween season you will find styrofoam skulls in the craft store and halloween retail stores. They are very inexpensive and sell for 5-6 bucks. You simply cut a hole in the back of the skull to accept the zombie gimmick. I explain this all on the DVD . . . wait til you hear the screams from the kids in the audience during this routine!

I am getting together with the editor of my DVD Monday June 14th to make the promo and hope to have it up on You Tube Tuesday. I will post the link here when it is up.

I PM'd you. It was originally on a VHS by Trevor Lewis and Hank Lee has the manufacturing rights.
I do not go into how The Cat works, as it is a marketed effect and I was not at liberty to reveal secrets to marketed effects on my DVD. I DO explain the workings of my own tricks on the DVD. The other marketed effects I use are Forgetful Frankie, The Viper, Ghost Gavel (Real Cool for a Halloween show!) Flashlight Fun. Most magicians that will purchase this DVD will already know how these effects work especially if you have been into magic for some time.

Thanks guys. I've deleted the promo video that you watched and here is an updated one. The other one was too long at 7 minutes and after some feedback I decided to shorten it to 5 minutes.

I hope everyone that purchases a DVD not only enjoys it thoroughly but will find material that they can USE.

Tommy,

My copy of your Halloween DVD arrived this morning and I've had a chance to view the entire show.

You should be proud. What an excellent DVD!!!

You really did a masterfull job of entertaining and intergrating safety tips for the kids in this high energy Halloween show.

Thank you very much for sharing your work with us.
