It's an Algonkian language from around the Great Lakes. IIRC it's the second most widely spoken Aboriginal language in Canada (after Cree).

Do you think someone should tell them that they speak Ojibwa? Seems that they believe they speak something else.

And what would that be?

Oji-cree. That Ojibwa covers a lot of ground though....a lot. Of course that came from their web site and they could be liars.

Ok, I'll take the corection, although Obj-Cree is a dialect of Ojibwa. http://www.fp.ucalgary.ca/howed/abor_lang.htm

Anishininimowin or Oji-Cree (sometimes called Severn Ojibway) is closely related to the Ojibway language, but has a different literary tradition based in Cree, and several phonological and grammatical differences. This nation has communities throughout north-western Ontario (with the Cree to the north and Ojibway to the south) and at Island Lake in Manitoba. Oji-Cree is often grouped together with Ojibway and related languages.
seems to me we have another example of white devils like John attemping to remove the identity of the aboriginal first nation etc people and their distinct cultures and trying to blend them together. How much longer must our brothers in the North suffer under the fist of their oppressors? |

Caught being a devil again. You know what, I spent the morning in a Cree school, never once considering the slight I had given the poor Anishinini, or Oji-Cree. I'm a double imperialist. My clothes smell of sweetgrass but my heart bears the sting of sulfur.

It looks too menacing to be a river otter. Plus, the large, bottom canine tooth looks more curved than the example in the skull photo.

Congratulations you pronounced the name of that town in Ontario, and you proved that it is not a mink. You got your native tribes a bit mixed up, but nobody listens to Santa anyway.

There's more than a skull to consider here and a key point of contention is the difference in otter and mink paws. With the exception of Asian Small Clawed Otters, River Otter paws are generally completely webbed.
