If you are a worker, you have seen many tricks that just hits the audience hard. I mean, really they can't stop talking about. Example: These are just a few for me.

QB2
Skeleton Key
Triumph
Snap Knot
Matrix
Coins across
Impromptu Booktest
Card to Wallet

Understand, the trick is more in the presentation than the effect itself. These are just a few that work really well.

What I've experienced to be strong effects...

Anything that happens in their hands. Sponge Balls etc...

Anything that seems like they're the ones influencing or doing it. Gemini Card etc...

Anything that can be done multiple times, becoming more impossible as it goes on. Ambitious etc...

Anything risking their belongings (phone, money etc). Bank Nite etc...

Anything that can be given away for examination after the fact. Pressure, Card Warp etc...

Imho.

Grand illusions in a word....or two.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

That one sounds interesting. Is that the one that is the grand illusion that is not boring?

In my opinion, as far as impossible effects go, these have high impact:

Open Prediction with invisible proceedure.

Teleportaion into the participants hand.

Visual flash restoration.

Visual flash transformation.

Impromptu close-up levitation/animation.

Real Phenomena.

Interesting presentation is--maybe--a more important but different subject.

My list is similar to Alan's with a few additions (listed in order of highest impact);

1. Close-up levitations - Spun

2. Metal Bending - Liquid Metal

2. Open Prediction with invisible procedure - Invisible Deck

3. Teleportation - Sponge Balls

3. Visual flash restoration/transformation - Paper Rose to Real Rose

4. Mind Reading - Anything Direct

This list is subjective to my performance experience - not facts Smile

Generally the best impact comes from the trick you present the best. I've wowed them with cards up the sleeve, with a simple self working card trick, with a simple sponge ball routine, and spellbound. It's all in how well you play it to them.
