Okay, I'm bored at work so I thought I'd ask a question that might drum up some posts.
I personally love the Erdnase Color Change. I'm considering picking up maybe a Daryl video on color changes but can't imagine anything living up to this one. Any other favorites? Second favorites?

I like your style Platt. The Erdnase is definitely my fav. It's super clean and the lay always thinks they have it figured till they try it. I once saw a one handed snap change where the performer actually dropped the changed card on the table to show two empty hands. Man!!! I'd love to see the notes on that one.
I'm new here, so this is a good time to say hello to all the card guys here. -HELLO |

Hey guys,
My favs are, Erdnase change, shape shifter, duck change, my pull over change, some crazy one handed color change that Paul David showed me and a few others that I don't know the names for right now. oh.. the coffin change as a color change. tons more too. oh.. one handed top palm as a color change. eidetic change, JK Hartmans blow away change "I'm not sure if that's the exact name" but it's a cool move. the flicker change... I could go on forever... what else do you guys use??? can't forget the top change as a color change.... and the double lift... simple but effective. I use everything I have mentioned here by the way. Hey Gary, where are you from? I have a friend with the same name. Maybe your him... Are you crazy little Gary?? |

I like the Erdnase Change as well. I love using it as a fake "palm". Sometimes I patter about how magicians can hide things in their hands. I demonstrate by trying to hide the whole deck with my hand (btw, I never mention the word "palm", and I give them the impression that hiding things in the hands is actually quite ridiculous and difficult). But then I do a really slow Erdnase Color Change and take my hand away very awkwardly like I'm palming the card. I explain that if I get caught, I just vanish the palmed card, and show my hand empty. This always gets a startling reaction.

Very cool move, card guy. I do something similar but without the set-up, letting the spectator think he's catching me palming.
Have you seen one of Sankey's applications where he apparantly smears a card signed with permanent marker?

Brad,
The card was tabled and inspectable. I wish it was that easy but I don't think it was. It was most likely "taken" by good ole misdirection. If anyone has seen this type of change I'd love some insight. Thanks Brad. Yes Lonnie, it is I. -gARY |

Jay Sankey has some nice little additions to the Erdnase Change that sells it a bit more.
The circular hand motion really adds to the illusion.

I like the snap change. nice but prone to angles. When performed unsurrounded, it's great.
Erdenese is nice too along with spin change. Daryl has some great colour changes on his enyclopedia of slights video (vol 7 or 8 I THINK) and many are fantastic! |

I have to say that I enjoy the Erdnase color change. I use a subtlety that Paul Cummins showed a friend of mine that really sells it. I also like that shape shifter because it is so visual and can be used for so many effects, and I like the impulse color change, very visual, that also has many applications that it can be used for.

Hey Gary,
are you sure it was not a flicker change you saw? or the eidetic change, cause the card is tabled and then as it is wiped it changes. then the hands are really clean. |

This way you can align the deck with the card you need to ditch as you perform the change. Of course you have to do away with the flick of the finger, but I find a flick of the wrist of the card holding the double can be just as effective. This is much less angly and can be performed for audiences of around 4 or 5 provided they are all in front of you. One more vote here for the Erdnase and also a quick vote for McBride's "Window Change". Stephen :carrot:

Greg Wilson has a cool colour change on his card stunts video. It's called the flippant change. It is a one handed change and very open. Does require some dexterity. Where can I find some info on the midnight shift and the graveyard shift.
