Anyone have a good biblical application for the Malloy Gravity Box? I was thinking of telling the Samson & Delilah story and having one of the kids be Samson and how God gave him supernatural strength. Samson would pick up the box and then some other volunteers would not be able to pick up the box.
Then when Samson had his hair cut off he could no longer pick up the box. But once his hair grew back he could again pick up the box. I wasn't real keen telling this story using the gravity box. I was hoping I could get some better ideas. Thanks. |

Here's how I use my Gimpy's Chest (and before that the Anti-Gravity Glass from Martin Breese, which is almost as good for $10!)
I have a little white handkerchief. Using a black, brown and red Sharpie, I inked the word "SIN" (all caps) and a number of fingerprints/smudges (using "stippling" with the Sharpie). I ask a volunteer to help me and I hold the hanky up to my chest and ask the volunteer what it says. They say "SIN". I ask the audience, "really?" The audience agrees. And I say, "That's funny, because you guys think that this says SIN, but what I see is "NICE - N I S" (I'm looking down at my chest). (much byplay on this, until everyone understands that I really do see "N I S" from my perspective. I then say, "now if this were on YOU (holding it in front of my volunteer) then of course, it would look like sin to me too." (lesson #1: it is easy to see sin in others, and difficult to see it in ourselves) Now I ask the volunteer to lift up the Gravity Box. (they can) And I toss the handkerchief in the air and let it flutter down. "As far as I'm concerned, this SIN is no big deal." I then put the handkerchief in the box, close it, and ask the volunteer to life the Gravity Box. (they cannot) I remove the handkerchief, and they can once again lift the box. (lesson #2: we might not think that sins are a big deal; we might think that we can handle them, but they *always* mean suffering [heaviness] for those around us) cheers, Doug

Try putting in a Jesus silk & being able to lift the box, take Jesus out & you can't lift the box.Reference Matthew 11:28-30
Hope that gives you a good start. Mark

Barry Mitchell's patter and routine for his light and heavy box is one that I have used. It involves a story in which several from the audience play specific parts.
This is not a plug for Barry's products, although I love them! But instead of me explaining the routine... go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGULrkg6ZTI&feature=related |
