What happened to Nosher's witticism about a Cretan? And my nearly witty response?

Epimenides demands respect!

3. What would happen if an unstoppable force hit an immovable object?

The immovable object would gain a hole.

If the object is immovable then there wouldnt be a hole. For a hole to form molecules in the object in qustion would have to form a hole by... Moving!

Alternatively, what would happen? There's a non-zero chance of quantum tunneling. The unstoppable force may simply pass through the immovable object without any interaction.

7. Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
The egg. Dinosaurs, which laid eggs, evolved into birds (including chickens.)

Of course egg laying species predates the existance of chickens. To better understand its metaphorical meaning the question could be reformulated as which came first, X that can't come without Y, or Y that can't come without X?

My answer for 7 is (drum roll please): Neither ever came. -Epistemolgy

Quantum tunneling- a particle moving towards a barrier has a non-zero chance of simply passing through without affecting it at all. In theory, there's nothing preventing objects larger than elementary particles from showing this behavior as well, but the odds against it are so large that we'll probably never see it happen.

Check out The Physics of Superheroes by James Kakalios- it's a physics primer without any math that uses (mostly) Golden Age comics to explain physics concepts. At any rate, one of the examples is The Flash "phasing" through a wall by moving so fast he has essentially a 99.99999999 chance of quantum tunneling through it.

I'm familiar with calvin and hobbes being a cartoon enthusiast. ? was in reference to rule changing. When did this happen? And who incorporated rules?

Hmm, I'll cycle back to the original post and answer a few of these, because some of them have legitimate answers.

The immovable object would gain a hole.

4. Since the universe is not infinitely old, it cannot be infinite in extent.
It isn't. But it's expanding at 74.2 ±3.6 kilometers/second/megaparsec, so just try and reach the edge.

5. Why is the night sky black if there is an infinity of stars?
There's a lot of space dust out there- 80% of the material in the universe isn't visible or luminous, so that blocks much of the light from stars. Also, doppler shift will take light from stars out of the visible spectrum.

The egg. Dinosaurs, which laid eggs, evolved into birds (including chickens.)

This is false for two reasons. In 1931, Kurt Godel, a mathematician, proved, among other things, that there are an infinite number of truths that can never be known.

That isn't quite what Gödel proved. He proved that in a sufficiently powerful formal system (powerful enough to do number theory), that there are theorems (truths) that cannot be deduced (proven) using a structured approach within the system.
