Hey guys,
I remember a while back people were buying aluminum cases from Home Depot to hold their close-up magic supplies. I have a specific use for one now and I can't seem to find it on their website. If anyone has a link it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jeff |

Nothing from Home Depot but here are a few others to get you started.

I have the top case and I love it well almost. The only thing I don't like is the hook that is on the strap keeps coming undone and it falls to the floor and makes and big crash boom. I was in a restaurant doing so magic for my family and when I got up to leave the hook came undone and the whole thing made a big crash and everyone looked Oops

For close-up situations where I’m traveling light I prefer a smaller leather bag, i.e. doctors bag or camera style bag.
http://www.stacksandstacks.com/leather-like-duffle-bag?id=-1 I have a smaller version of this one that works great. http://leatherstuff.com/shop/view.php?id=445 http://leatherstuff.com/shop/index.php?id=275 |

Thanks guys! I am actually not looking for a fold-out-top box. Just a plan open and close briefcase type box.
I found this and it looks good: http://www.harborfreight.com/11-1-2-half......870.html |

Jeff, the case you're asking about can be found at Lowes: http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?part......Id=PDIO1
Home Depot often has the cases in stock, too. They just don't necessarily post them on their website. You may want to call a local HD store, and ask if they have them in stock first. I have the Harbor Freight case that you posted. It's very small compared to the Task Force case. I personally use the former for the Sucker Silk to Soda Can routine due to its small size. Hope this helps, Brian |

Harbour Freight used to have them in 2 sizes. I bought the larger size, and I also bought one the same size from Lowe's. The Lowe's case seems to be a little better quality, both both work well for my needs.

Have you looked in eletrical store like Radio shak (if it still exsists). These places sell aliminium cases to hold tools etc. If you lived in the UK you could get one from Maplins

I bought an aluminum case from Harbor Freight and it smells terrable. I cannot get the smell out of the inside. It was a tool case with rubber like divisions in it and movable panels.
It smelled so bad, I just threw it out. I guess it would be okay for a drill or something, but not for putting magic equipment. |

I just bought one at Harbor Freight and it also smelled really bad. It might be the adhesive they use. Anyway, it worked out great for what I needed it for.
Had to let it air out a couple of days!

I have one from Home Depot, that I bought not too long ago. They had them in stock last time I was there. It is good to store props in, but it got dented very quickly, so I don't use it in my shows.

My home depot always has them in stock in two different sizes. I bought several of both sizes and with the exception of one prop and the birds, I can carry my entire dove act in several of them. I use one for misc tools for the just in case situation, like screw driver, pliers, extra wire, thumb tacks, lighter fluid, matches, tape etc.
If you're a little handy or creative, craft stores often carry wooden cases like brief cases. They are usually bare wood have wooden dividers inside. I took the dividers out, lined the case with a thin rubber mat I got in the same store and replaced the dividers where I wanted them to hold my close up stuff. The one I have even has a full size divider in the lid that holds a close up pad.

I was excited to see a few on the shelf today at Home Depot! It's great, also has locking mechanisms (including keys of course). Mine has a little bit of foam already built in, along with removable foam dividers (which I removed of course, although I will definitely keep them around). Also included a strange insert, for tools no doubt that will probably be of no use to me. The space it takes up is more valuable than the few TT's I may be able to fit in the thing. I will keep that around too of course in case I have a change of heart. It may be nice for ropes or something.
It is lightweight yet looks very professional. Thanks for the tips, guys. I would have never known about this case otherwise. I will probably get a few more (they're under $30 a piece). |

I own the Eclipse 900-203 it is awesome, but many times I get from the ladies "Wow I would love to have that for my makeup case" I chuckle when I hear that.
No one said it would be easy, or did they?
