Where can someone acquire one of those sheer silks that Mr. Ammar was using on his recent appearance on the Letterman Show?

Michael Ammar sells them on his web site just use Google and enter Michael Ammar. He also sells the complete trick.
They use to be available everywhere, but ladies do not where these scarves much anymore, so they are hard to find now in stores. |

I think you will find that those "sheer silks" like he uses with coins are really Nylon.
Real silk will work for the cup handle or silk through mic stand trick. I recommend the 24" size. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Bob,
I use 18" and 24" silks already. I just like that Ladies Scarf look of the one he used. I remember seeing them in Indian grocery/fashions/housewares stores. Not really expensive. I went to one of the only ones left here and they didn't have any. I'll be seeing you soon to replace a bunch of cheap silks I have that are wearing out. All the seams are fraying open on most of them. That's what you get when you buy cheap. :o( I didn't know Ammar had them on his website and should have checked. I'll strap myself in before I get to the line with the prices on it!!!......click... dsalley13 Posted: Jun 12, 2010 8:14pm Found them here, a very circuitous hunt! I got lucky. It's not listed with the r**l (bad word evidently, not allowed to spell it out here!): http://store.ammarmagic.com/coins-thru-silk.html Not a really bad price, but the postage will kill ya for something that could go in a 1st class #10 envelope. I'll keep shopping and see if I can spend a bit less on the USPS. They aren't user friendly anymore price-wise and they say it's our fault because we use e-mail too much. :o( Reminds me of "...We're from the government and were here to help..." Right. Thanks, dsalley13 |

I think the scarves are the same type as juggling scarves. But I'm not sure what sizes they come in.

Petrick and Mia used to sell them. You might try the dollar stores and thrift shops.

Scarves like the one used on TV can be make out the fabric that is used to make wedding veils. You can get yards and yards at fabric shop for a few bucks. You can then cut them to the size you want. The fabric can be used with out a hem if necessary. To put a hem on it you will need to use a special type of sewing machine (a serger) or pay a tailor to do it for you. It would probably cost a few dollars each.
As noted above they are similar to the some types of juggling scarfs. Some juggling scarfs are stiff and would not work well for most magic tricks. Good luck Chris |
