Ben Harris' silent running is a must read on this topic!

I want just describe my routine:
A spectator thinks any card (Free choice) (I believe you can extend this concept to everything) I explain what I will do under test condition, and I reveal the spectator's card directly without any question any contact. To increase the impossibility I can go out in another room also. The effect appears like: "Please think of a card" ... "Your card is 2 of Spades!" In order to compare my effect I look for something like that. -Antonio |

I have something similar in concept (and yes, to please my good Thomas it can be made to work with OTHER THAN playing cards!) but at this point is not ready to be given away yet...
If yours it's as you described, it seems quite impressive too!
Then you'll rise right before my eyes, on wings that fill the sky, like a phoenix rising!

The truth is, there is NO (published?) routine that I am aware of which exactly meets the requirements that you mention (there are countless that come close, with a compromise in one area or another, including a number I have published myself). I am quite "the seeker" when it comes to this plot. I have read a fair amount of published works and if someone has one, I would be impressed indeed.

Mike,
I am sorry, but your question has no answer. I don't answer at question about my method. (No fishing) -Antonio |

I don't consider Mike`s question kind of "fishy".
It's a valid point to judge how strict the requirements have to be done when comparing to existing effects - and this is what you're after in this thread, right?

It may be a valid question, but it's Antonio's thread and effect and right to not answer as well... Just think about it and make your own mind up, but seeing as it's not for sale in any case...

However, as HE's asking for similar effects (to do the necessary research) it would be essential for anyone willing to help HIM to know what they look for: e.g. many effects rely on DR (and therefore work only with larger groups) which you can't tell when reading the effect's description only.... It would be wasted effort to research for anything not knowing some essential premises, IMHO. But Antonio surely has to balance out how much he makes public at this very moment in order to facilitate his research and how much he'd rather keep secret.

Theres some great material mentioned on here, tom baxters work is amazing and definitely worth checking out, as is sean waters ebook ponderings.
ther are some nice ideas mentioned in banacheks ps3, Hilfords and a few others are in there. your method seems purely "psychological" in nature, so id also look at derrens early work on the devils picturebook or pure effect. also daniel madison has some ideas in his identity ebook. Kentons kk and its spin offs. paolo and colin come highly recommended although I don't own any of their work as yet. paralies by joshua quinn is also amazing and will have some ideas for you to branch off into other items and is simply a great book for a mentalist. greg arce has a version that I remember being very good, ben Harris and silent running is another item that came out you may want to check. an older routine I used to have a lot of fun with is "the hedonists make up all the rules" from book three in the A>O>A series by paul Harris. just some I can name off the top of my head...although I would say none of those I have read are quite as "clean" as the method you state. |
