Hi.
I don't have much access to magic sources, etc., so I wasn't able to make a really good research. I've come up with this some time ago, and I'd love to know your opinion about it. Here's a little bit rubbish 'performance' of the move: http://vimeo.com/11663725 The password is: Green You can do lots of things with it. You can swing cut the deck, and the card is in perpendicular position, etc. I had great opportunity to talk with some great people and received some nice feedback. But I also got information that it is similar to moves by Troy Hooser and Bill Goodwin. If anyone is familiar with the work and could help me, that would be great. Cheers, Mike |

I don't see the purpose of this.
So, you cop the card out of the deck, and it is face-up, half-hidden by the deck. It looks like a pretty move that nobody should see, because it is secret. If you continued from the fan and made the card come out of the fan face-up, then I could see a purpose for it.

I have to agree with Bill on this one. What could you use it for?

This is actually a pity. It's a beautiful move.
However, a move is not supposed to be seen. Flourishes are supposed to be seen. What a dilemma! A nice move, but probably not of much use as a move.

Bob Kohler showed several of us this move at a restaurant in Vegas at least eight years ago. It really didn't have much practical application at that time either.

This looks like one of those things that will come up via independent discovery ever so often.
Maybe there should be a category for moves that are done with a television camera at the bad angle, so that the spectators (who would not be allowed to see that particular view) could marvel at the magic, and the magicians who are watching could marvel at the move.

Actually it would be a great alternative to the loading move in Bernard Bilis' routine, Paranoid, the version with the stack.

I mailed Mr. Kohler and he said the move is in Greater Magic. Personally I don't have this book but if anyone has and could check that out I'd really apprecieate that.

Once I'll get my hands on that book, I definitely will!
