Glad to see this Mega-Wave booklet getting the attention it deserves. I picked it up at Blackpool, and was just blown away by the material. I don't think card magic gets any better, frankly.

For those who own the book: what is your opinion of the psychology used in "Fractal Jacks"?

I think it's quite good, actually. Crooked deal explanation leads directly to the spec thinking that dupes are being used, which is finally proven incorrect. This is a great packet trick using cards from a regular deck. My favorite from the book.

The negligible behind-the-scenes work you do in Fractal Jacks is quite subtle and will hardly be noticed. So essentially, after the first or at most the second round, your spectator will theorize a way your trick works. While you act as if there is no climax, the spectator will have that "I know how he's doing it, it's so simple" feeling, until the climax turns the world upside down.

Once the spectator thinks he knows how the trick works, he'll conveniently forget anything odd that might have happened (which again, I'd like to emphasize, is quite subtle). So, reconstructing what happened might be a difficult job for him indeed.

Yep; two thumbs-up for "Fractal Jacks".

I saw Cameron performed the Bannon's trick at John Bannon's website, I considered THAT effect alone is WORTH the whole e-book. Nice performance Cameron! Smile

I am not sure about the others but I am still waiting for my orders and I really can't wait.

Just bought it yesterday. I'm a fan of John Bannon's material ever since I saw him perform many, many years in sweden.

Andrew,

Thank you!

BTW, I think the two Wild Card routines in the book, Fractal Recall and Mag 7 will prove to be favorites as well. I have always loved Call of the Wild. But I love it even more now that it can be done with no gaffs! Smile

I rarely purchase books online because of shipping issues but I took the plunge here! The Mega Wave effect is a beauty in itself and you would definitely have something that you would like from the other six. Come to think of it...we rarely see books dedicated to packet tricks.

BTW...I also like Fractal Jacks with the concept of "bottom dealing" the odd cards while bringing the Jacks to me.

For the people that bought the book directly from Bannon. After placing the order have you received any acknowledge that the order was accepted or the book shipped, or you just received the book through the mail?
I placed an order during the weekend and send a separate email both with no response.
This post is not about criticizing anything just to understand what to expect based on previous experience.

Thank you ... Pablo

I got an email from John Bannon yesterday, he had some internet issues and just received a new batch of books. So if you are interested in the book, this is the right time.

I ordered mine last week

I belive you have to tell him, like I did, that you want the book(s) signed.
