Saw an antique poster in a friend's house today with a Mephisto-type character and the name 'Les Magiques Leons', appearing at the Palace of Mystery, and a printer's mark with 'Nottingham' (England) on it. Searched on the Net and could only find two references to the poster (c.1920) which were images without information about the performers (assume they are plural from the 'Les'). Might anyone have some info about it/them and the venue? Obviously, it's not the one at the Magic Castle!
Thanks. |

Could be wrong but I think it is a stock poster that was used for a play titled the sorrows of satin.
The one you are asking about I believe is what the great Leon Leon used. hope this helps |

Have tried to attach a 47Kb image but apparently that exceeds the 75Kb allowance here somehow!
Having had another look at the poster it states 'The whirlwind illusionists' so not a solo act. Also states 'no time to talk' and apart from the 'in the Palace of Mystery' line that's the extent of the copy - red mephisto character with cloak on blue background. |
