My Gold has just dropped $40 an oz. So what’s going on this May 1st in this old world of ours, apart from the Red Square celebrations?

So much for your tip. Why do we listen to you anyway, if it just means losing our shirts?

You had to know that all of your profits from gold was temporary. I personally would be happy if the price went down, because the gold ear rings that I bought my wife at Christmas last year was about 25% higher than I usually spend.

Tommy, hope you remembered to swap all your Elgar £20 notes yesterday. Smile

You bought gold when the smart investors were selling gold.

Would you return the money if institutionalised fraud and financial manipulation made you a profit? Nope...so investors if you lose that is the wayyyyy it goes.

The false optimism about the economy will soon fade away and gold will soon jump to $1,300 + I will be buying my usual amount this month. You don’t scare me Al Angello.

I've got a Semper Augustus bulb from the 1630s. Well, more accurately, the dried remains of the bulb. Doesn't matter - even though the market has been down for a few centuries, I'm sure the upturn is just around the corner...especially if the Dutch do well in the world cup.

This might make you feel better:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-inv......1626211/

Excerpt:

Chinese gold consumption was worth more than $14-billion (U.S.) last year, which accounts for about 11 per cent of global demand. China is already the world’s largest gold producer and, with estimates of demand doubling before the end of the decade, it may not be long before it surpasses India as the world’s largest buyer.

And gold has a powerful ally in promoting it: the state.

Consider a recent push by the Chinese government for its citizens to buy more gold as an investment. Industrial Commercial Bank of China recently signed an agreement with the World Gold Council to help promote domestic demand for gold through new investment products.

The country is also turning to television advertising to encourage its growing middle class to buy gold as an investment. State-owned China Central Television has run spots urging citizens to buy gold, as well as silver, a major shift from only a few years ago when the country imposed strict controls on precious metals purchases for its citizens.
