I've never seen it done so well (the routine, not just the execution of the sleight).

So apparently you've never seen Lance Burton's exact version of this which it seems the guy probably stole... masked guy, sword fight and all. It's a shame that no one can be original on their own.

I finally found and watched Lance Burton's performance. I wouldn't call it 'stole' but rather 'a different take' of Lance Burton's magical Ballroom Play. It is like two directors putting on one of Shakespear's classics. The basic idea will be the same but the performance etc. different.

This would be like seeing another director doing a modern setting/Elizabethan speaking Romeo and Juliet the right after Baz Luhrmann did it in 1996, only changing around a few scenes a bit.

I actually prefered this one over Lance Burton's. Lance's version is more comic while this is more intense. Anyway, 'stole' is a strong word when you don't know whether this guy got permission or not...

I like both, each different in their own way.
The romantic scene is performed by many magicians, so is the switch, and the vanishing lady. The fight scene adds drama to an emotional charged routine in a nice story telling act. Next we will have the super human Magician glitter in the sunlight, sweep the teenager off her feet while fending off the wolfman, with perky nipples. (Yes you can steal that idea.)

A friend of mine helped Lance with some of the principles to accomplish the routine. Do you know that Lance took fencing lessons for this routine? He's done it on The Tonight Show with Carson and several other national TV shows. It's a signature piece and has been for over 2 decades. If you understood how much it took for that presentation to be what it is now, you would know that you just don't give up something like that. That performer obviously has some financial resources to build some props. It's a shame he doesn't have the presentation skills to pull it off or the imagination to create his own routine. |

When Jacki Chan started making movies, he wanted to set himself apart from Bruce Lee. He did some amazing stunts, in reality is a fantastic martial artist, but wen he would hit, he would act like he was hurt in the hand or something. He was more Buster Keaton than Bruce Lee.
This does not fit that category.

Definetly a rip off. Its a shame, because it was very well done.

I have seen Lance Burton doing this effect in a few diferent ways, some alive in stage, some for tv programs.
this guy just took all of them and put them together, so he stole it!

Rip-off, remake, performance...semantics. He does it better than Lance.
