Here's an app idea I'd just like to toss out there: iSnarf!
You know the classic Snarf silk? What about an app that does essentially the same thing? The main feature would be to display text in such a way to do the classic Snarf gag. As you rotate your iPad (best choice, due to the size) the orientation would change, but still not look right. You could enter whatever text you wanted, up to a certain number of characters, perhaps choose a background and text color, and then save your favorite creations. Naturally, turning so the back shows couldn't work, but the 4 basic orientation abilities could make this very funny. If you're very careful with the accelerometer programming, non-standard diagonal orientations could be created, too. A much simpler version of this idea is done by going into a layout program, typing in your text (For example, the classic "THANK YOU"), rotating it 90 degrees counterclockwise, sizing the text to fit the page, and then saving it as a PDF. You would then load this PDF file up into a PDF reader (I use GoodReader) that handles orientation changes, and you're set. Play with this simple version, and you'll realize you can't possible orient the text properly (without laying the iPhone down, that is)! Here's a basic implementation of this simple version. Load it into any smartphone's PDF reader that handles orientation changes, and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about. |
