Check that out! A piece of David Berglas interview I have found recently (Martin Breese is the interviewer), after one of his shows at the Caesar's Palace, in the 80's. He is performing his famous ACAAN effect : it's NOT a legend, it is a miracle!

I can see a big Speculation around "The Berglas Effect". The Berglas Effect is the ACAAN version performed by David Berglas.
If someone creates a new ACAAN, he should make no reference to its effect saying this is a new solution for The Berglas Effect, but this is new solution for ACAAN. Just my opinion MP |

So I arrive at this gig last night. Pro golfers having cheese and wine.
I go to a table of ten people and slap down a pack of cards and ask someone sitting across from me to name any number from 1 to 52. he says 31. Then I ask the lady to my left think of a card and she says "The four of hearts". I ask the little guy on my right to take the cards, turn them over one at a time, whilst counting. On the 31st card the four of hearts falls to the table. They laugh and clap, for 6 to 7 seconds before asking me if I could do another trick. I sigh and perform Joe Riding's 'Just think of a card'. A woman merely thinks of a card before a man cuts the pack to reveal her thought of card. They go apesh-t! I smile and think back to when Joe Riding showed me how to perform this effect. I do a full hour, then I get my money and leave. Today I read this thread, and somehow I find it highly entertaining.

Either your effect/method was not as described and they felt that there was some trickery going on; or your presentation did not convey the true impossibility of the effect. The reason this effect is so famous is because magicians get off on it (in the words of David Penn). If you can teach your audiance the same appreciation of the totally impossible within the few minutes you have for patter, then you have a miracle. Theo xx
I call myself "Thomas Cooper" here because this stops the magic café appearing when people google my stage name.
Does anyone else find the term "Special User" to be a bit condescending? |
