I came across this on craigslist. Sounds a little strange.
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/tlg/1827966995.html Society of American Magicians rules regarding on stage assistants having to be single, divorced or separated??? Did I miss this in the bylaws?

Not sure where this person gets his information. I just did a quick search of what documents I could locate and didn’t find anything about the “relationship status” of an assistant. I actually don’t think that would even be legal.
Judging from the typo’s and grammatical problems, I kind of wonder if the purpose of this ad is simply to meet girls! A week’s notice is barely professional – meet me this weekend???

LOL....I would love to see the show! I put an ad for assitants out a few months ago and some chick sent me a picture of her breasts! She was the front runner, but my wife nixed that real quick....;-)

And the only thing I thought he had wrong was:
5' 0" to 5' 8" tall and weighs less than 160lbs (guess no small box illusions) there is some risque dancing involved but it will be child appropriate (Barney wearing pasties???) There may be traval involved but not outside of DFW for a few months. (using a first grader to proofread your ad) Under the regulations of Society of American Magicians they want you to be single, divorced or seperated for reasons (I figured out why they must be single, divorced or separated, if there was another man involved, while performing a thin model, they might leave the half that talks) I just love that a magician would want a woman who's separated, isn't that supposed to be his job?????? |

Frankly this ad worries me. This guy is just tring to set something up and it smells foul. I really hope no one meets this guy...

Morgan, I think everyone here thinks this is shady. First of, why only single, divorced or separated women??? I know some assistants who's husbands do not mind them working with other magicians. Second, Child appropriate and risque dancing are in the same sentence, how is this possible???
