It appeared on David Blaine where here marks something on him and moves the marking elsewhere. You can view it here: http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=S10803 or on Magic Geek. It seems to have mixed reviews but I was just wondering if anyones tried it, how well it worked, and if the pen looks suspicious? Also, would it be a good trick for a beginner?

Pick up Mark Wilson's book like you planned on doing. It's cheaper than that pen and has HUNDREDS of awesome magic tricks. I guarantee you'll love it.

If you have your heart set on the trick you saw David Blaine perform- it's called Exile by Mathieu Bich.

Good choice.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

I have the doodle pen and it does not work great. Especially if you all ready have moist palms (or if you get sweaty hands, palms) you will have a lot of difficulty getting the pen to write on you. Also the ideas that come in the booklet you get are not great. But so-so. I think I found only 1 effect worth my interest.

Koolmagic114 is right. It does not work that great. It still can be a nice effect if your hands are totally dry all of the time.

I personally use it to sign cards when I do not want to damage them.I let the spectators sign the cards with it and when the effect is done I remove it with some drops of water.
