Hi,
A short while back I built a mechanical monkey (automaton) that would perform a card trick. After the build I realized he might be a good candidate for a childrens show. I am hoping I might get some suggestions (please be kind) on how I might make him more child oriented. I know changing the cards into cards that kid's would understand would be one idea, but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. The video of the Monkey is on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSfjYCIZQ6A Any ideas would be truly appreciated. Thanks to all!! Veegates |

First of all, you did a great job on the automaton. For kids he could look a little more like a toy stuffed animal than a real monkey. As far as performance, it would be fun to have him answer yes and no behind your back to things you are saying and then be still or look away when you turn around.

Wow that looks awesome.
Very very cool. I agree that having him do stuff behind your back could be really funny.

Thanks to both of you!! I agree, having him being a bit of a "cheeky monkey" whenever the magician is looking away is a great idea. I thought about having him raise an incorrect card, maybe with something silly on it first and begin taking his bows as if he did the trick correctly then discipline him. He would then act up behind the magicians back and when the magician was watching, the monkey then would raise the correct card. Thanks again!!
